Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

More layoffs for good workers

I have been a driver w/Company for 6 years...have countless cust compliments, too many to count...i have gone the extra mile and carried countless orders (some as high as 6k of lumber) by hand bc machine could not get where customer needs...never have been written up, never call out, no tickets, no accidents, no property damage to customers property (slide merchandise in garages, across lawns, fresh ashphalt), i have put out countless fires that 3rd party creates with box truck issues, have been told I am my store managers (who I really do have a genuine positive liking for, he is a good guy) favorite employee in 15 years as Manager, bc I always have a great attitude and have never not done anything he has asked of me...i have shed blood, sweat, and tears for company and I am the one being laid off, to save $$...but ceo made 12.7M last year...and they dump millions in The racecar...very frustrated by company's cont'd disregard for the good employees that got them where they are...cust service is going to be impacted in a negative way...and 3rd party is not going to be able to handle it...they can not handle box truck in market...no good

Yeah I got screwed twice. I was the dept manager of delivery, got the 12 month deal in January, I have been driving for them for the last 6 months as a CSA 5. Now they are gonna throw me out on the floor for the remaining 6 months... with no severance! I've been working at lowes almost 18 years now, would rather got laid off with the package, giving me time to go to school

I feel for you man. I was one of the department managers that was given 12 months to find employment either in the store or elsewhere. A driver quit so naturally they decided to force me to be a driver again with no input from me, having been there almost 11 years and worked in every department in the store. Now guess what? Since the drivers are no longer needed I am being laid off again!!! 2 times in 6 months with the same company. I took a pay cut to become a driver and to help them pout and now I get the boot. I would have been better off making my manager wage working 50 hours a week doing deliveries and had til January to find a job but now I only have 3 weeks. You are just a number in retail. Like golf, the lower the number we spend, the higher the number looks that we sell.

I feel badly for you. Our driver got the boot as well. 12 years with Lowes, the best there is

and he accumulated 140 sick days. A blessing in disguise because he'll take his Class A license to

a company that will really appreciate him. There are no visionaries here and Lowes is imploding.

How they envision that this will somehow result in customer satisfaction is moronic and

the area managers still believe their own b---s---.

It has nothing to do with job performance. It's cost cutting. Stop taking it personal. So many Department Managers who were very good got the shaft for the mighty dollar. I stopped caring back when SPIFF's were eliminated. I saw the direction. Now I just collect a check for as long as I can... Why bother I will keep getting shafted It is what it is. Accept and move on.
