Oracle India laid off several sales reps - The SK way

On one side SK is celebrating that Oracle India won the best region and on the other side, he and his sales VPs are riffing people. There was no transparency on the process and as usual their so called "COO"- Madame DK is the brains behind it. The whole process was murky and apparently first they had put people in a BD job code and then they changed few back. Some left getting the "message". Oracle India sales culture has not changed...they still just sell licenses and force customers to buy cloud as it helps their reps make more money. Most of their sales VPs can't even articulate basic things about cloud especially their erstwhile DB leader. All in all, SK is riding the wave by cutting reps and looking good in front of his French bosses.

-2xno , I actually agree with previous comment. I don't think things are complicated, one makes it so oneself. Get up early, exercise, do your job professionally, and love your family. Invest 10% time in your development. Complicated ? No, not for winners.

Stop being a loser - if you worked all these years with the same ineffective leadership, why didn't you expose them to your super bosses ? What prevented you from making a positive influence by being a better contributor, being diplomat, but climbing the ladder ? If you weren't laid off, you would continue to work with the same folks for next 10+ years with no complaints. So, stob blaming leadership for your personal failure, and accept that you have scope to improve, otherwise you wouldn't be on the list. You followed wrong direction, yes, but then you are accepted to stop your leaders from going into wrong direction by influencing them. If yo can't influence your own manager, you don't deserve to be in this position. "Claim success as individual, blame failure on leadership"

Re: innovation -- Oracle acquires innovation and then chokes those acquired to death.

Re: evolvution -- look at cloud data centers @ oracle. Late to the survival (evolution) game.

As an employee bringing feedback direct from customers and bringing Immediate pulse of the marketplace ( (prospects requirements) ) back to "leadership" and having it fall on deaf ears .... on some level you just have to assign responsibility.

The posters here who say what have you done to make a difference obviously don't have a clue about oracles culture . Leadership has a Roman army mentality.

There are pockets of success going on but nothing scalable . If you ever worked at Oracle and you know this . Oracle has more acronyms and bureaucracy is in the United States military .

I think some folks on this chain and who started this chain is looking for sympathy. They claim Oracle is selling a lot, yet it's firing folks in India. Really, some people can benefit from Artificial Intelligence, and you are one of them if you believe Oracle is run by a black hearted devil - it's not. Businesses go through ups and downs, and layoff is a normal part of any business. Not fun, but a sad reality. Now let's ask - what have you and your group done to prevent this from happening ? Is there something different you could have done if given a chance again ? If you haven't learnt from your mistakes, god help you.

You missed the point entirely.

Oracle selling the same old sh-- in India . Last Time I checked oracle in particular prey on government entities buying their crap .

Having individual and collective, forward thinking integrity and character are very undervalued qualities in our global human community these days.

Wtf ... ? The only thing that matters is strategy, not integrity or character. This is not a goverment org, neither a charity. Agile, faster, smarter companies move forward, unwanted technologies, technicians , engineers are laid off in favor of those who can help company move forward. If someone needs a job security, start your own company or join government job.

duping the local indigenous people was an old and proven tactics back in the early industrial era. Oracle is the dinosaur of tech...not shocking that they are using old methods from even older eras. Its almost funny, if it weren't so sad. Shame on the local leaders in India who dupe their own countrymen. But hey, they're making a buck, so that justifies it. Right?!
