Read or listen to this story- I found it informative and aggravating

Ttq and Sbr posters, you both said it well! my heart goes out to the mbrs who are struggling through the insurance co maze and don't know what to do about their ever increasing premiums copays med costs. It is of course the American way capitalism and oh yes sure to the poster who said just quit. That's mighty helpful. But this is the health care situation anywhere. Not just with H. Most Hospitals. Other insurance companies. Home health agencies. Etc. everyone is in it for the big bucks That is if they are high enough on the food chain. And like the 2 before me said it is a very sad state of our country when people garner as much huge profits they will never spend in their or their grandchildrens lifetimes while so many ( majority) are hurting. Through no fault of their own usually. I just do not understand this level of greed while proclaiming to care about well being. Yes I am thankful for this job. I like this RN job. But it pains me to hear the suffering masses all across the Us

Many of us talk with members every day who can't afford proper care or medications. It wears on you. People suffer, people die as a result. Some try this choose between groceries and the copay / meds. If you have these conversations every day, news of excessive corporate greed is hard to take. How could it not be?

Many people who have advanced degrees in social work (many of us in HAH program) did pursue our education with the ultimate goal of helping people. There are so many other subjects you can pursue that would result in better pay. We try to make a difference, even within a large corporation where the CEO to worker pay discrepancy is disgusting. Are we immoral or hypocritical because we work toward our goals within this corporate structure? I don't think so. Does our employment with a large health insurer bar us from observing and noting the pay discrepancy as a concern, or make us hypocrites? No. When you are compelled to pursue your advanced education by a sincere desire to help others, you might be truly appalled by corporate greed. Some may never be understand that, but those people should be the last to pass judgement.

It continues to surprise me that people who object mostly to Health Insurance CEO's getting paid big money come to work here. If you object so much do the right thing. Follow your conscience and quit, you would be setting the world an example.

Yeah- stay healthy, really a program in name only. What healthcare ceos really want is not "in allignment" with stay healthy. It's not "in alignment with "live healthy" either. So get prepared.

I read that too. BB has really gained a fortune on the backs of employees as well as the elderly. SMH

I heard that story! It certainly falls in line be with how Humana Ceos have pocketed huge sums from stock sales. Very upsetting to see such cooperate greed in an industry that tries to project an image of care- duplicity
