Not sure the Titanic is ready to sink yet. Sears is still hiring. At least 30 more jobs in Dayton.

They don't quit because of a better paying job. Let's face it. They quit because of all the negativity and badgering that goes along with the low paying job.
After you sit through endless hours of useless computer training ( or get thrown on the floor with no training) you are met with angry customers or burnt out management that makes your life miserable over credit goals that you couldn't possibly hit as a new hire.
That is why Sears is always having a hiring extravaganza.
Most day to day business activities such as hiring will go on as usual right up to the end. They have to put on a show of being in business for the long term, even though most of the world knows the company is just about done.
sears home services has a constant
ad on indeed.com, for in store lead generators,
most quit after first week.
Same in our Sears store hire and quite in The same week if they even show, and always for a higher paying job , consultative sales $6 an hour plus commission who wants that when you can go down the street get 10+ an hour , or cashier at 9 an hour with 10 hours a week ...
My store is always hiring too. Same as said below. The new hires disappear for one reason or another. I think they may low key waive the drug test if you give a good enough excuse for missing it. If you're a minor and no parent signs the consent, they let it go. There's no reason to have more people in though since the current employees are getting some short shifts.
We hired too... and majority quit because they found a better paying job with air conditioning
Sears continues to hire even though there are no hours. The salespeople are barely making over minimum wage. We had 8 people hired in our store 3 weeks ago. 3 are already gone to better jobs, 2 gave notice yesterday, and the other 2 pulled no shows and haven't been back in over a week. One went to lunch and never came back. Other stores in our district are experiencing the same thing. The district recruiter said at this point Sears will hire anyone that is breathing and will waive the assessment test. The Titanic is leaking.
