Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

HR is the 1st line of defense for legal

Oracle HR acts more like the 1st line of defense for legal. They rarely answer questions that would be standard for any HR department. When I emailed my HR Rep, days before June 30 RIF, I received an email reply notification telling me she was extremely busy and will respond as fast as she can. Good luck and document everything.,,

"After a few email exchanges, I soon realized that the HR rep had no idea what to do, was not reading emails completely , as they wanted an excuse to ask same questions again , hoping I would give up. And I did give up, it was like dealing with an illiterate person , not a professional."

Ha! This must be how our customers feel when they open a service request with our support team.

The only purpose oracle HR ever serves is to protect the company, they are not here to do anything for the employees, ever

No, line HR is still in US. And local Geo's. Payroll and benefits are in Romania. Expenses is in India. Frontline TSC call support is Romania - mostly hired there because customers hate Indian accent in tech support. Romania is a great country with great people , but folks over there are at a fraction of cost compared to UK.

I think they have outsourced HR Staff to a call center in Bangladesh.

HR in ORACLE is mostly incompetent. Following an automated email I got a few years back about tax implications due to extended international travel, I emailed them asking what is it that I need to do. And, I was greeted after a few weeks later by "who authorized you to travel" , which was already explained to them in my original email. After a few email exchanges, I soon realized that the HR rep had no idea what to do, was not reading emails completely , as they wanted an excuse to ask same questions again , hoping I would give up. And I did give up, it was like dealing with an illiterate person , not a professional.

Another story - I reached out to HR to find information about a new hire. And, they had no clue , they replied that I should contact the hiring manager, where in I was the hiring manager, and I had introduced myself as such in the email. Isolated incidences ? Nopes, this is consistent. Every time I contact them, they appear to be bothered.
