Is this affecting the contractors as well? Usually they're the first to get hit. Or they being hired in greater numbers to offset the employees?

ETWs are not employees so, therefore, not a part of the Nike layoffs. If they are let go, it won't be through Nike HR in a conference room. ETWs would be let go directly by the firm they work for, not where they work at.
All the folks I know for years that were let go, were FTs. None of the ETWs were let go as far as I know. The numbers look better to the investors that way. Sad!
Yes, now that they're laying off the good people, wonder becomes of the "nike culture" with the proliferation of all the contractor turned FTEs....It's going to take some strong hands to turn this lumbering ship around!
In the June layoffs, I know of cases where multiple contractors were converted either just before or just after - and tenured people who had been doing exactly the same job for years were let go.
