Thats exactly correct. The buddy system and good ole boys club rules. The people who are getting all the attention are not the hardest working, smartest or most successful employees. those people are given more work so the good ole boys can keep slacking off and have more fun. this side of ge culture baffles me. and no doubt us hardworkers will indeed be the first ones to go and thats why the company is in the trouble its in.

@P0RZ4vK-2dqj the second-rate helpless desk is already outsourced. They were in India and since been moved to Mexico. But yeah, most of the IT functions are currently outsourced, which makes it hard for anyone to get anything done.

This statement wasn't referring to contractors. It's referring to employees that have formed informal groups that protect each other at the expense of non-buddies.

Sorry what does the buddy system have to do with contractors? Contractors are employed as short term or non-critical functions. I would rather see our second-rate IT or weak helpless desk people let go before our design engineers are touched!

@P0RZ4vK-uwt - So true! I witnessed first hand the "buddy system" and watched it play out with the back stabbing that was prevalent, especially during the good ole' EMS days where each individual was stack ranked against fellow employees. "Buddies" always had to make the few look bad to make themselves look good for the merit increase.

So glad to be out of there now, but I do miss the good people that are/were in the company.

The lazy employees are well connected in "safe buddy" systems and will remain protected. These are the ones that show up and spend most of their day chatting and socializing. If you're observant, you will notice they have the same pattern every day of chatting in different locations. If you walk up, they are experts at pretending to talk about work. They are easy to identify because they are quick to judge non-buddies and self promote by trying to make others look bad.

You would think it would purge out lazy employees, but in reality, the hard-working employees with integrity get out first.
