Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

There is no winning in Layoffs

Layoffs are not fun for anyone and they are never going to be done "right".

I am currently sitting on an amazing team where we should be hearing our fates today. If we are lucky that is.

In order to keep things from being released before plan, upper management has the information and not the directors. So many bosses are waiting for info just like the employees. Does it make it stressful? Yes. Are you glad to know that you might not hear from another teammate that you have lost your job? Yes.

We are losing good people. People many consider family.

You are absolutely right that layoffs are never fun. However the way Nike has handled this one is disgusting. There's been no actual leadership from HR or the VPs. When questions are asked there's a lot of shoulder shrugging and an air of simply not caring. That's from C level folks. The questions aren't about anything confidential. No one is asking to be read in. I mean basic stuff. Those with the power to stand up and at least make sure it's done right won't. I guess it's not in the playbook.

HR has been particularly horrible though the process. Treating workers with such disdain is revolting. I won't give examples or name names but for those at Nike for a number of years who I've talked with, it's not the layoff that's upsetting. I mean sure, that's upsetting but it happens in business. This RIF is upsetting because of the callous way it's being handled. Because all the flowery BS in the emails sent around doesn't match the reality.

Oh, and if any of y'all are reading this from the comfort of JM4: DO THE RIGHT THING in the right way, amirite?
