Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Union Pacific was an awesome place to work at

15 years ago, the company was an awesome place to work at but nowadays, I wouldn't work for that place unless I was homeless. What really bothers me about the place is how they change the employees brain patterns, My so-called friends seem to be brainwashed to the point that they want nothing to do with you if you don't work for the company. I mean NOTHING. Guys that I golfed with, drank with, hung out with, think that their Gods gift anymore. Any company that has the means of brainwashing their employees that much isn't worth working for.

Maybe they never really liked you, and now that they don’t have to see you every day and won’t have to hear you complain about not getting invited to golf, they don’t have to act like the enjoy your company anymore. I don’t know...just a theory.

Corporate or organizational brainwashing is a real phenomenon, look it up. And yes, I have witnessed it at UP as well. Some are more prone to being brainwashed than others.

15 years ago, the old guys were saying how much UP s---s and how much better SP was. I’d bet some aspects of the railroad really are worse now, but it was hardly an awesome place to work. Great security, decent pay and benefits, and little expectations, but definitely with negatives.

I hate people like Chad Wilbourn who cant cut it in life and spend their days s---ing themselves up the ladder at other peoples expense because their not smart enough to work in a trained professional field.

Dont worry company boy, your head will be next.

How does that kool-aid taste now?

I live across the street from a railroader. We've live here four years, don't hardly go out the door, we are retired and don't socialize with anyone here in the neighborhood.

We bought a used pickup in June, this asswipe came across the street and proceeded to tell my spouse that we could not afford it. My spouse just walked away as he didn't want to escalate this as he was drunk also. I thought railroaders were supposed to be tested for alcohol/drugs?

We are in the process of moving away from this bull**** town. Unbelievable attitude and crap.
