Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Travel ban?

I was working a POC and posted OT request, was scheduling travel when manager called me and said there was a travel ban for pre-sales. Anyone else hear this? Or it it just me, does my manager know I wont be here the following week?

No travel ban here and I'm presales. I'm still getting all the OT I want without any problem. No one is telling me I can't travel. I'm even going to Hawaii in a couple of weeks to meet a customer.

You should get a lawyer and sue class action style. Travel bans are unconstitutional. Just ask Trump who has been trying to implement one for months and it keeps getting struck down.

Travel Ban without VP approval. It's the next shoe to drop and cost to cut. If they are selling cloud, then why do they need to go to a customer site? That should be done remotely. If it is done remotely, then they can justify shipping more of the work to low cost locations like India and Romania.

Even Salesforce, Workday, AWS, Microsoft, and Google know that much of cloud still needs to be sold with physical interaction. These are extreme measures.

I still think there will be a lot of travel, you will just need to jump through more hoops to justify it.

The "Travel Ban" really shows the current state of the business. Really? You are not allowed to travel to a customer and conduct a POC!! Pathetic. In a pre-sales role and cannot visit customers!!

It's just another reason why Oracle is going to lose the cloud war. The competition is going to eat your lunch.

I was laid off back in June. According to my former manager, the "Travel Ban" has been in place all year long. That's real BS. He had no problem hopping on a plan to fly from the East coast to Oracle HQ for a 1 hour meeting. By the way, this happened multiple times and it was not a customer meeting. It was an internal meeting. Also, their justification is that they are meeting with a customer. That's BS too.

I mentioned that other folks at my level (within the division) were traveling and their manager was approving it. He said they should not be traveling at all. There is NO TRAVEL. That's when I mentioned his travel. He said he must get SVP approval for all travel. That's another BS lie. Bottom line: do believe the BS from your management.

There's no travel ban...in fact, this Friday many of us will be traveling right out the door with cardboard box in hand.

I was laid off June 1st. Was told there was a travel ban when I tried to book OT and travel. Question is was there really a travel ban June 1st? Or is this something managers tell employees who they know are about to be laid off.
