Thread regarding National Oilwell Varco Inc. layoffs

Goodbye Houston and NOV

Well I have been following this board to see if NOV will / was recovering from the oil crash. It was in my mind that maybe I would like to reapply and move to Houston in the future. Those thoughts can be put to rest now. I would never in a million years move to that city now after seeing what a flood can do. Seems like the flooding just keeps increasing there. At peace with my decision not to relocate last year.

Goodbye and good luck. Hope those affected by the floods can recover fast.

There are certain divisions still doing well at NOV. Or should I say profitable. Aftermarket Subsea is doing well. Revamping stacked subsea rigs is underway in full force. As well Trans Ocean latest report is that only 3 of their subsea rigs and drill ships are not under contract. Also new product development of +12000 feet rigs are complete and generating big long term new growth.

NOV as a whole is losing but the divisions that are doing well are doing very well. Layoffs and facility closings are an adjustment to counter the loss. But bankruptcy not an option. The divisions that are doing well still generate an astronomical amount of revenue. NOV is still a fortune 1000 company.

Hard to imagine so many bad decisions all by poor judgement and allowed to continue. I have an idea, let's place next gens and thugs in charge see what happens! Oh wait........!

The truth hurts people that want to stick their head in the ground & pretend everything is fine. NOV is in serious trouble, that is the truth!

Good. We definitely don't need people like you here. This is not the time for your comments.

Stay away from NOV, the only way it will comeback is if the US oil production tanks. NOV is a company that will continue to flatline or go down.
