Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Will adidas truly "beat" Nike? Maybe not... but...

Can confirm Nike people have been flocking to adidas recently. Source, I work for adidas. From very senior level employees to former Oregon athletes... people you'd think would never leave Nike for a competitor, but clearly they had a reason for leaving and adidas seemed like a better place. I've worked at both companies and would never work for Nike again, and enjoy going to work with the intent of "beating" Nike. Will adidas truly "beat" Nike, maybe not, but Nike has lead itself into a terrible spot and there are opportunities for other brands to make serious moves.

Adi will beat Nike just because they care about their people more than Nike. With that say.... Adi already beat Nike

You realize Adidas gained almost 5% in market share last year alone? Nike lost a little over 1% and Jordan lost 3%. Adi is now only .5% behind Jordan. If that stays anywhere near that rate they will pass them inside a decade, not decades.

But then again, you probably still have a job because that thinking is part of what got all these people laid off in the first place.

It will take decades for adi to catch up, it is possible but unlikely

Under Armour, Boost, Stephen Curry. The same attitude that adi thought about goofy Air.

Being special is earned not inherited.

Deal with it Mark-Suffer the few of you true believers left.

PHK never steered the ship but sensed the angle of the rudder.

Mark just sort of steers the direction of the last guy to say cool things without regard to their failed history

RIP Swoosh. SAD.

To think that Nike is untouchable is delusional. Just look at Xerox, Blockbuster, Blackberry or Yahoo. It may take awhile for others to catch Nike but it is very possible. The other shoe and apparel companies are making up ground at a fairly rapid pace.

No. Nike may be going through a tough time but let's not forget Nike is the number one shoe company in the world. 2nd apparel brand in the world. 18th most valuable company in the world. (Adidas is 83rd). Adidas has gotten a lot of big celebrity names, so it's become very trendy. But Money wise, Nike is pretty untouchable by all competitors.

What location do you work at?

I may need a job and am willing to relocate. What major metro areas have positions that Nike folks may be a good fit for? This is a broad question on purpose as I'd like the answer to be useful for all folks in all geographies.
