I heard that HR will be sending emails at 9:00 am (not sure Thursday or Friday though) to tell people to be present for meetings to do the layoffs. Your manager won't be the one to orchestrate the process.

No need to show up in the office tomorrow, you will get your FedEx package regardless, so why waste the time and ensure the aggravation. Just plain boycott the meeting.

After a few round of layoffs they have to get rid of some of the sonderkommamdos.
It sounds like it would be a large operation if HR people are doing it themselves. Perhaps that means that a significant portion of the management is also getting RIF'd?
10 or 11 am would definitely be better.
Engineers are not morning creatures. HR will be meeting with themselves if it is at 9:00 am.
I think it's supposed to be a 6am email inviting you to a 9am meeting.
