The Kmart in my city, St. Clair Shores, Michigan, was spun off to be a Seritage property some time ago, yet it's still open. Our city council just shared plans for Kroger to demolish it and build on the site within the coming year. This is one of the top performing stores in the company. I always figured as long as the Kmart format was around, our store would be, too. Even worse? It's being replaced with a Kroger supermarket, and there are already 4 within one square mile of my house. What a waste.

What's terrible about this is the new store manager just arrived, from Indiana! Hasn't even unpacked yet.
closing these 4 Kmarts, all around the same time,Garden City, Westland, Plymouth, Livonia in Michigan, was a bad idea as we all know !! I miss kmart and hope all those employees didn't have a problem getting unemployment
From the seritage growth properties page. Looks like a Kroger logo to me. http://www.seritage.com/retail/property/22801-harper-ave/3312555/landing
Reviewed city council minutes/agenda. They plan to demo in the spring. I would anticipate the closing of the store to be announced fairly soon, maybe a closing date in February.
So sorry for everyone.
OP are you sure? I know they replaced the Kmart at 13/Harper with a Kroger last year. That Kmart had been closed for years.
For reference 9/Harper used to be the #1 Kmart in the chain revenue wise.
It told me a lot!!
No, they have not announced a closing!
There is a Kroger 1/2 mile east and one mile south (on the same streets) as this kmart.
This is incredible news, this means only one kmart will remain in macomb county (home of the "Reagan Democrats") there used to be 20-30.
Very sad news OP, were you at the council meeting or where did you hear this?
Wow that told us a whole lot of nothing
So is the store closing
