Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

More info on layoffs

One of these is four days old, but the other one is from today. Some good info in here, and it's a good read if for nothing else than for calling out Oracle on hiding layoffs.

Oracle declined to comment. That's not surprising: Big Red has in the past been... how do we say this... difficult to pin down in regards to its staff reductions.

This is the OFFICIAL Oracle roadmap:

Yikes.

Compare that to the version that was there two weeks ago:

Nice try, you have done your sh--ty HR work.

But you are ridicolous, and for sure not aligned with what your own corp is OFFICIALLY saying.

This is the OFFICIAL Oracle roadmap:

can you see M9? can you see ANY SPARC development after M8? can you see the delayed S11.4?

You are not even ridicolous, you are annoying.

Every article out there related to these rumors are feeding off the same fake news written on this anonymous site. There are no names here, no proof of identity. All we know is that a competitor, or even one disgruntled employee could be spending all his time screaming it’s the end of the world. Not one article is basing its claims on real factual data, no public announcements, no statements from officials and this is all being blown out of proportion. Yes, theres probably layoffs, but there is no factual evidence that it’s the end of Solaris or SPARC and for that matter Oracle HW as clearly this would need to be made public by Oracle. There are still over a thousand people still showing up between Microelectronics and Solaris groups today and from what I understand, millions of SPARC cores in production under Oracle support. Clearly not a business to abandon.

These "news" items summarize what was discussed here on The Layoff, no news there really.

Not just SPARC hardware folks getting pink slipped. Cloudera based Big Data Appliance is also getting worked over and moved into different sales buckets.

They are focussing on a "hybrid" on-prem/cloud appliance approach that cuts the nutz off of nearly all the hardware reps.

Big Data Cloud appliance (Oracle supported HDP flavor) != Big Data Appliances (Cloudera vanilla)

Oracle has very sketchy support for their own "flavors" of open source projects. Oracle Linux comes to mind...

Entire ZFS/storage teams are heading for the doors as well. NetAPP and Dell/EMC will get a boatload of applications here shortly for openings.

The quality of hardware at a software company is on par with the art/paintings you see at a truck stop you fill your tank at.
