"if people only knew how screwed up the warehouses" - nail on the head. Replacing the WMS systems 3 times without addressing most of the functionality issues (leads to being many years behind the industry), the accuracy issues (inaccurate inventory, don't know what was put in cartons, and don't know whether or not a carton was shipped), or the accountability issues (personal responsibility for accuracy). The WMS's should've been replaced before SAP was brought in, company is way to focused on it's internals, and not where it directly touches/interfaces with Customers. The culture is not what it is portrayed to be, the maxims are not just words ... it is a vindictive culture where folks trying to do the right thing and get things done are often penalized for pointing things out that are costing the company money. After many years of that, things just keep getting more & more inefficient and costly ... and those with the knowledge of what is broken/bad stop bringing them up, stop trying to engage with other teams to fix things ... and things keep getting worse. What is missing more than anything else is accountability. If every team and individual is accountable for the costs they create or cause - things would change rapidly.

I was an ETW (contract employee) for about a year. I was excited initially to be able to land at Nike. I mean it's Nike, right? But after being there for a few months, I was shocked at the culture of Nike. It is not a collaborative environment... it is very much this is my info and you can't have it. If I wanted to be hired I needed to get out there and try to "sell" my resume to other departments which was not what I was told when I quit my FT job to work at Nike. The amount of warehouse and inventory issues were amazing to me. Don't get me wrong there are quite a few good people there but too many are out for themselves. I would never recommend Nike as a place to work. I am thankful I moved on and got a job elsewhere
I have personally seen things costing the company a lot of money that people up the ladder decide not to address. For instance...500k of software that could save millions. But we don't have the money...to save money. How does this make sense???
I've liked it there in general...and really like almost all my co-workers but there are some things that make no sense. And yes, our group has a do nothing headcount who somehow still has a job. It's just stunning to many of us who work our butts off.
100% Truth. "The culture is not what it is portrayed to be, the maxims are not just words ... it is a vindictive culture where folks trying to do the right thing and get things done are often penalized for pointing things out that are costing the company money."
I can relate to this comment. The whistle blower gets the package while the offender was let off free! This is Nike!
