Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Bitter employees

It seems reading this post that a lot of you are bitter , well tough luck. If you look at the forum it's not just a great company like Nike doing big changes , the economy changes all the time and good companies change with it. They are clearly doing what is best for the future of Nike.

I can't believe TE and JM are out. Middle Management is chomping at the bit. Will they be any different?

News for the wise to OP and HR - remember that these people have put their heart and soul into the business if one section is loosing money and you are laying off why not try to find other opportunites for long term tenured employees who have so much knowledge of the company.....and please don't send people into a room and say - if you name is on this board your going to another room and then guess when your all gone.....sh-- it reminds me of Hitler and how they treated the jews during the war.....good luck to all those....their is life after NIKE - stay positive and find comfort that their is an employer out there that will look at your tenure and loyality and want you -

Adapting to change or driving change is one thing. Panicking based on the whims of Wall Street while causing a great disruption within your company with no real plan is another. Nike is experiencing the ladder.

Awwww, OP. You're so cute with your "tough talk." Either you're in the arrogant & oblivious group everyone keeps referring to or you never even worked at Nike because there is nothing on here that anyone at Nike hasn't experienced or seen first hand. If you're part of the first group, lmao. If Nike is on the path of righteousness, what in god's name are you doing on this site? Keep on doing what you're doing and may all your bonuses crumble and your stock continue to fall. If you're in the 2nd group? Same. What are you doing on here? It's a weird way to spend your time. I suggest finding a new hobby. Maybe catcalling women on a corner. But for fun, let's pretend you aren't in either of those groups. WHAT is the point of your post? Layoffs happen. Sure. As you so helpfully pointed out this whole site is dedicated to just that. (I mean other posters! Did you know?! This isn't a site dedicated to JUST Nike layoffs? Did you know layoffs happened at other places? Shocking, right!?! Thank god this super helpful human came along to tell everyone! Phew. Saved us all from oblivion.) Here's the point you seem to be missing-layoffs don't happen to companies who have their sh-- together and are leading in the market. Companies who know what they are doing don't end up with people posting anonymously on websites like this. Need proof? Do tell, how many posts are there for adidas on here? Yeeeah. But hey, if everyone on here is bitter, the good news is they're still lucky AF because, well, they're not you.

Hey OP-There are plenty of tattoo parlors in Portland that can cover up that Swoosh when it happens to you.... Until then, go pound sand...... Urban dictionary-look it up

To the OP: no one is complaining about changes to make Nike better. If you read what's been written it's about two things 1. How this layoff is being handled from an HR, communications, culture perspective and 2. That the justification for the layoff is questionable in the first place.

It does seem that the OP could use a bit of a refresher course: Empathy https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Empathy

The "tough luck" speech doesn't accomplish anything, kiddo.

Bitter would be a good way to explain being let go after 25 years of service. 50+ hours a week for 2 decades, missed kids birthdays and soccer games because of travel, was asked to postpone my sabbatical to get a critical project completed, and found out that I will not be paid for it now. I gave so much to Nike because I believed in being part of something so dynamic and exciting. Sad to see now and how far its fallen. Nike was caught not paying attention to the changing business needs and I am part of the collateral damage. A price paid for the poor performance from the top leaders of the company who carry on with business as usual.

Yeah, clearly you don't know or realize the level of incompetence at the helm.

The senior management club is about as clueless as they come.

Good luck with that!
