@acw Yeah go to TSMC for faster TTM to sh--ty ARM server chips that are only good for specific niches.
Genius plan. Applause from the crowd.
Apple already designs the most important chips for the most important computional market, the one in your pocket. Intel is a non player and destined to grim future, no it but only when!
They continue to use x86 because of convenience and preferential pricing and first dibs on latest CPU bins. There is littl competitive not pricing leverage to go ARM yet 😉
PSO missed that boat and Intel has never been the same since, look at TSMC and Samsung silicon revenues compared to TMG the past six years.
Intel makes a lot of noise about the data center with its growth and importance. May I remind you that was what IBM, CDC, DEC, HP, Sun and other said as the x86 PC rose to prominence. None are in silicon and all had more talent and similar market and tech talent as intel did then.
Server and CCG can go to TSMC for far faster time to market and better equity return than use TMG beginning next year.
No the future belongs to the ARMy, Nvidia not x86. And as far as manufacturing future look to the East as they own the next decade!
Yep, that will shave off about 10 pct of the revenue
