Store Physical Inventory Counts

Well the rush is on to get store physical inventories completed. DMs are scrambling to get wrapped up soon. The AAP process is a joke. Corporate has no idea (or simply does not care) regarding the losses due to the sloppy preparation and reconciliation when a store is counted. A lot of this is due to the hiring and/or promotion of those who do not understand or care about their store. I’ve seen the guys that came from CQ take great pride in having good inventory results. What did they do or learn differently? Anyone know?

Had a RGIS inventory team show up at my store this morning. No one knew they were coming. Apparently my former DM did not let anyone know. Nice communication team!!!!!!

It happens all over the country. Close the CQ store and watch the business go away!

I'm a 20 year employee of CARQUEST now working at a Advance store. There is no way our stores inventory can be anywhere close to being right. Most unorganized and sloppiest inventory I have ever seen done in my life. This company don't even have a clue to what they are doing. I don't know how they got this big.

Our store is hit with a ton of cycle counts every week and they are repeating the same sections every few weeks. How many times do we have to count brakes, starters, and alternators.

My store just started preparations for a store count. What a joke. My DM has no clue on the process. Why bother if your not prepared other than to say you did it. I thought inventory counting was about accuracy. Obviously corporate has no clue of the reality in the field.

If they are writing off at an inflated retail instead of net acquisition cost, they should be investigated by the Federal Trade Commission. Could they be that stupid?

Advance Auto Parts quite simply does not care what the inventory counts are because whatever losses they incur it is more beneficial for them to write off at retail vs cost. This is all to common for large companies and oddly gives them more money in return.
