Layoffs in Global Ops

GE Global Ops laid off 60 people in our building this week. More to come before the shareholders' meeting in November. I'm definitely worried. Nobody is truly safe. Going to update my resume just in case. The rich get richer while the poor get more poor. Seriously doubt the execs are going chop their bonuses, their 2nd and 3rd vacation homes, etc!

I think that the GE Digital Organization has their heads buried in the sand. Needing to reduce heads, and today they put out their we are awesome letter bragging about the success of hiring over 2,300 talented team members globally in key roles this year alone. Wake up someone.

^^ correct but a lot of digital (including a guy that was part of making myapps) went VJRP and the hires are college kids in places with job commitments

Hey, a$$clown "1wZk" it obvious you have never worked for GE. Go troll on some other site.

If you have ever worked for GE you would know that this was a great company to work and all he executive leadership have done is take everything away from the people that made this company a once fortune 5 company.

Before recent acquisitions the company was approx 350k blue badges it needs to get back nearer that number in my view. Whether that is 400k who knows.

It's a worker's right to complain but you guys take the biscuit. Is there anything at all that you like or is it all misery, resentment and desperation?

What does john rice bring to the table or any eband in general...or even belfort. How's that Saudi plant doing we built...are we still building them in Greenville first.

Why is ge hiring outside GE for new eband positions. No one thinks we have the talent in the ranks. Bolze was a pu--y.

@PBHFuMv-vdw - Where do you get 800-1000 layoffs?

I guess we all agree GE is in somewhat of a mess. They will fix stockholders perception with the big cost cutting. The underlying issue is there core businesses revenues look bleak. They say GE Digital has the potential to be major revenue generator. This is true but they have a lot of catching up to do. GE as a whole is already reducing number of employees gradually then before November they will announce somewhere around 800- 1000 across the company. I don't think digital is safe either but just won't be any shocking numbers. Detroit hub will probably take the brunt of layoffs for digital just because they have mostly leftover capital employees that just does not have the right skill set. This is the way of business now days. Just a tip take seriously getting another job. GE is in for a rough ride for at least 3yrs.

GE is haemorrhaging cash big time. Why not slash salaries at baker Hughes to keep thing from going too much worse. They will accept whatever cuts they get because they don't have anywhere else to go. It's time to be selfish to look after ourselves. It's time to slash their headcount as well.

It's game over. Job losses will go into orbit from now on. Hang on for the ride.

What building? Yahoo finance had an article last month that said over 500 layoffs were going to hit Global Ops. Maybe it'll encourage them to be productive instead of fighting revenue generating businesses.
