Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Writing is on the wall for certain positions

Watch the quarterly reports that Lance fritz has its pretty obvious where they are going with the cuts. Another thing to look at is the railroads section 6 notice to the unions. The railroads want to contract as much work our as possible, so I would think the engineering department is in line for some cuts. In Lance Fritzs last town hall video they talked about having 2000 locomotives too many with a fleet size currently of 8500 that's about 20% too much, so I would think the mechanical department is in line for cuts especially machinist. As far as foreman and General foreman go all you need to do is look at the other class 1 roads, none have foreman or General foreman only first line supervisors which are managers. The UP has lots of foreman how came from the ranks of mso's, that ain't gonna cut it when you downsize you need knowledgeable people and there not it. I have been an ARSA member for many years and our union has done us a great disservice by allowing none craftsman to our ranks, its going to be our downfall.
