Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

RNs are now doing CHE work but on RN $$

Who thought to eliminate a bunch of CHE positions, and then have the RNs take over the CHE duties, which, I will add is at a much higher rate of pay $$$$?

Memo to Humana leader-sinking-ship, HELLO, pull your head out of your whatever, wherever, and think before you strike! I now the phrase has been used by Smokey the Bear, but it works here too!

Yes, below poster, if we last that long. Then, they will evaluate us on declinations for program! I live in ET and call CT and it is late hours and don't call too early either! Just give me my sev pay already! Thanks for those that know more and post, it makes more sense than the last Town Hall and run around we got. Virtually, felt like I was in a board meeting for another company I knew very little about and what they do it was so bad! No info/misleading/waste of time.

If they keep any of us phc’s, I know I can not do what the RS do. I would have gotten into sales if I could convince people they need strangers from their health insurance company calling them to assist with their health.

The RS are rock stars at getting to yes, it seems. My personality is more, “oh you don’t like talking on the phone? I totally understand.”

If they want phc’s enrolling as well, I won’t be able to stay (assuming I’m not let go first). I hope it is just a rumor that they will be getting rid of RS. Enrollment is not what I was hired to do, and I haven’t got a knack for that sort of thing.

Who will do the enrollments if the RS role is eliminated ? If they are going to open enrollment again .

No help with research needed. You will only be allowed to send Healthwise and OES. For CRD you simply supply member with phone numbers. The CHE role is not needed and the easiest to completely eliminate. RS role will disappear too.

How do we know the plan is to completely eliminate the role? Should there not be any least one team to assist with research?

The plan is to completely eliminate the CHE role. For now it's Healthwise, OES is planned next for care managers to take over

Agree with poster below who said this change has not created more wages, rather it just added one more thing to RN’s workload at same wages.

At this point, I’m fine with that.

However for those who are worried about being “dinged” for every little thing and how each ding affects their job security, I understand where they are coming from as well.

Just to be clear: the CHE role has not been eliminated. Care managers (RNs, SSs and PHCs) are sending the Healthwise info, yes, but the CHEs are still sending everything else, like CRD resource listings, OES materials and any educational materials from .gov websites. The more you use Healthwise, the faster you can work in it, so I wouldn't advise avoiding it. I also wouldn't advise down-playing the importance of your score on quality call reviews. One day, that may make the difference in who is selected for layoff and who is not.

I have had so much trouble with healthwise, I just stopped offering mailed materials.

I’ll likely lost points on call reviews but there is only so much time in a day, and I’ve decided to stop worrying about those nitpicking reviews and just do what I can with the time I have.

So they made it so time consuming to simply send a member a health wise article that most RN hcms are no longer sending them. Who has time for that. I guess they thought it would save them in postage which it definitely will.

Humana has saved tons of money by eliminating the CHE role and passing the work into the RNs. It has not created more wages, it has lowered the FTEs

Or, the CHEs were eliminated and the RNs absorbed the work at the same salary they were being paid....

It sounds like questioning paying higher wages for the CHE work when they are having financial concerns. Very valid remark
