Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

How is Morale in your building?

Just curious what it is like in your clubs and what your fellow co-workers think. Will your store's employee survey be good or bad?

If morale is low, is it because of the Management team in your store or the entire company direction?

For me, morale is at an all time low and that's from all the changes coming from above our store. You can tell people would leave if there were more options around. Survey is going to be bad this year.

Moral in our club is horrible. I haven’t heard how the “survey” went if that tells you anything. They would probably lie about that too . There’s no way that survey is private ... most in our club are afraid to give their opinion. Not hard for them to figure out who is saying what. They must think we are morons to believe otherwise! Used to be such a good place to work.

Getting rid of audit and accounting was dumb. But now with talks of PTC, Receiving, and Marketing you have pretty much removed all knowledgeable invested associates from the building. Or at least in positions where they can help contribute more than a part time college student who just works as a zoner.

Don’t dress this crap off as helping member service. All you are doing is targeting long term higher paid associates who have already done these jobs(floor partner & cashier) and excelled in them enough to get full time decision making jobs. Just because they were coveted jobs when they opened up doesn’t mean they weren’t some of the most stressful and challenging jobs in the building.

Good luck claims associates. You are going to be the last one standing once the dust clears.

Morale is horrible. Everyone is so bummed and beat down. And its not even the busy season yet. I am surprised these machines will arrive just before the super busy season. At least in my club they will see how spoiled accounting has them. We do EVERYthing for them. Samshare doesnt even matter to me, we aren't projected to get much anyway.

I worked hard, gave some of my best years, several tears, and many, many beers! I will miss my co-workers the most. There is something about being stuck in hell that will bond everyone together. We will always be family and I wish everyone out there the best of luck!

My GM knew, wouldn't admit it, but knew the whole time. They were having "TL" meetings in the weeks prior to the announcement, yet made sure I was excluded, saying I wasnt needed. And when I went to an "open" door (*laugh), I was told it was all rumors, dont worry. Well funny how I seen the building planner measuring and he even said it was for the machine. They'd have to know it was coming. I HATE being lied to. Thats the worst part, thought we were better than that as much as I have done to save their behinds. Kept many secrets that would have cost them their jobs!! I will happily walk out on December 1st!!

Our club is suffering as well, I have been with them for 10 yrs. When I first started I loved that place, this year has probably been the worse we are trying to operate on a skelton crew. The gm s---s... I love how he acts like he has no idea who or what positions are being eliminated...yes he does!!

Morale is really bad here. Declining AES every year. Under 40% this year. Part of it was bad GM but once the job cuts started coming down it was more focus on the company making it impossible to feel secure in a role and reward you with the same 2% as the window licker sitting on a stool at the exit door.

The simple fact that there is a post like this, says it all. With the "improvements" and "restructuring" that our benevolent masters are putting into place, morale is tanking across the board. When i started at Sam's club, 7+ years ago, I was proud to be part of the TEAM. But with the changes that have been implemented over the last few months, i see no reason to work hard, do my best, or even give a s^&!. Opportunities for advancement have been knocked-down to 2% raises, or the ability to put fear into every trailer-hitch the management may own. I see no reason to "Give it my all" anymore. Like many others that i have worked with for the last years, i now just show-up and do what i need to do to get through the day. 110% has been reduced to around 30%. Yeah, Morale at my club is a joke.

I worked for sams 30 yrs and retired. Yes I got nothing but a cake and some gift cards from two very dear friends and a manager. The company gave me nothing and did not ask me to stay. Here's why I lift. Me and a few others ( mainly two of us ) did everything because we could do it better than everyone eles..lol...while others walked around and shopped , we worked our a-- off. 3rd shift. I was a team leader for hardlines for yrs ,working split shifts and doubles a lot. They called me and told me I had 30 days or find a different job in store after 25 yrs of service at the time so this all started then. No one gave a damn the team leader of hardlines lost his job 5 or 6 yrs ago . I'm one of the ppl who opened the frist sams club in our town 33 yrs ago and no one has called and asked me how I'm doing to this day. It's been over a month since I quit. I took a job making less but I love it.....got to thank god because I asked him for yrs to get me out. He gave me way and I took it. Good Luck Sams ppl, I Know How YOU All Fell

Surveys don't matter...they won't listen. It has gone so far away from how this company started. It is truly sad none of Sam Walton's tenants for good business is being followed. They use to care about employees, but not anymore. People who.have been with the company for decades loosing there position and some there jobs at no fault of their own.

All time low at our club. The few associates that do care get used and abused. The more you do, the more managers espect, the less you do, the less Mangers espect from you. Mangers act like they care, talk like they care but are not willing to help out in areas and support the associates and members. They just walk around throw each other under the bus to take the focus of them and send notes to the night crew. Then they criticize what the night crew did not get done. We have lots of turnover, many associates that are not willing or physical able to perform their job responsibilities. Company thinks PT associates is the direction to go. Well it's not! They simply don't care, call off, lazy, spend most of their time on their cell phone, taking extra and long breaks, etc., etc. We afraid to fire anyone because it will take weeks and weeks to replace and when we do finally get a warm body with a pulse, they are worst then the one before.

Morale at an all time low for us too. The place really is a joke now. I'd say it's a combination of what's happening with all the changes, and our management. Managers still do absolutely nothing and work their associates to death. Who would be happy with that, and look forward to their 2% across the board... Survey was bad from me.

Morale is a joke in our club no one and I mean no one gives a sh--! Managers are just like the rest of us wondering if their next. Why work your a-- off for January to come and your eliminated. Makes me wanna work my a-- off for a company. They post these famous phrases of what Mr. Walton said but, they don't follow his wisdom. If you treat your workers good they will take care of your business. Well business is going down the sh-- hole.
