Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Death by 1000 Cuts

What would be best for the oracle brand would be swift and immediate restructuring cuts vs the sloth-like endless cuts to bleed out.

Just restructure and get on with it oracle leadership! You look “cruel at worst” and “uncertain at best” under the curren methods. Neither play well for your careers on wall street. Make a decision and quit playing footsies with current employees. Be what you are, and always have been: ruthless, and get on with it.

This hope is what Mark’s class of program is all about. A revolving door of hope coming out and despair as they leave. The churn rate in the college class of program is over 60% . Oracle won’t admit this but it’s no less true. These kids leave demoralized and In a far worse mental state than their older counterparts who also leave. LE & MH don’t care. It’s not their concern. They want all the energy and enthusiasm they can get from you and then when you leave they say it’s your fault that you couldn’t hack it. It’s the classic abuser persona. Those that leave are not victims. They are survivors who leave to save themselves. Make no mistake even people post that this is a b--ch board, it’s not. It’s honest warning to others. The opposite of victim behavior . It’s hope everlasting that you can help someone else avoid oracle and save themselves the awful experience.

Exactly.... we are warning those looking into a possible new job at Oracle, and warning those people who are scheduled for layoffs, that there is something better out there. Being laid off from Oracle is the BEGINNING of your career, not the end of it. There are many, many jobs much better. Jobs with better people, fewer a--holes, decent managers, decent pay and real work that is challenging and has a real future.

Welcome to American Capitalism. MH, LE, and SC make millions in stock options doing what they're doing. GR's been slicing up IBM for over 5 years. Some Wall Street investors, such as elderly people on a fixed income with assets in trusts, just want income. Such is the case with the glorious Warren Buffett, the chief architect of IBM's destruction and layoffs of 100,000 employees. ORCL and IBM stock pay dividends. The investors don't care if the companies are being torn up and will probably not survive in their current form. They want income, and they're getting it. MH isn't going to do one massive restructuring as this would be too immediately disruptive and cause an immediate decline in revenue. So, death by a thousand cuts it is Alsok if you cut bonuses to the bone and don't pay the sales commissions they owe, people will leave. A few years from now, when the corpse of ORCL is acquired for pennies on the dollar, MH and SC will be long gone and 100 million dollars richer.

You don’t realize all this stuff about oracle leadership until you get shiv there. Then it’s staggaring.

Good people, talented people go to work at oracle and find out what environment they’ve been hired into after about a year. It takes that long to see it clearly. Most stay only a few years and leave. It’s been that way for some time now. Average tenure , of new hires in the last 5 years, is probably 3 years. Everyone I know who was at oracle when I was lasted 3 or 3.5 yrs. this is in the SaaS side of things. So we were all mostly acquisitions or new hired in the acquired companies. You got in thinking god things ...you got out as soon as you could after getting paid what you were owed that you earned while also learning what a toxic culture you were swallowed up into. “Real time” learning.

Why does Oracle survive? Because human beings who they hire all have hope that any new job or employer is good. You join with an optimism that brings energy to the organization. Until you find out it’s not as you had hoped.

I'm so glad I'm not at Oracle anymore. It was so hard to root for the bad guys.

Now that I'm out I have self-respect again.

For two guys and a gal concerned with their images they sure do have a funny way of demonstrating it. The cats out of the bag on them and their public personas. People already by and large think they’re all three less than upstanding.

Womanizer old guy + slightly younger hypocrite from Baylor fired publicly for unapproved expenses on a saucy affair with a woman of questionable position + SC, the older woman who is the work wife to the old guy...the company you keep says a lot about who one is. Just sayin’.

It’s all so weird.

It would be better for Oracle to get it over with. I think the guys at the top are really more concerned with their image rather than the health of the company. Someone posted a while back that LE was so narcissistic that he couldn't allow any announcement about major layoffs for "his" company. Maybe that's right.
