I've heard rumors that Member Greeters positions could be eliminated or hours severly cut back?
Has anyone heard this?

Are they get rid of greeters
If the store is busy you need door greeters. Entrance: because people (try) to go out without paying full baskets. People need tag/stickers on returns etc. they bring into the store. Then also, stop from parents letting their children bringing in TOYS! Such as scooters, and battery cars!!! So many TOYS that can hurt other people while in the store. The store is not a PARK!
They seem to do their job best as they can with little help they've. They scan phones, and receipts regularly and stop theft from leaving the stores, it is awful to watch how many people try to steal. I eat at the cafe when i shop there and watch how they work to the best they can and with what they have to work with. People are so demanding and selfish; working against the greeters. It takes great people to be a greeter. I guess the sams store i go to people do care of doing their job with pride.
I work at a Sams Club in New Hampshire and most of our exit greeters compare cart contents with the number of items charged, within reason. A cart with more than 20 items is very difficult to check and 25 or 30 impossible, unless it is a flatbed. When very busy we do not count as much, to prevent members from waiting in line for a long time. And we do not demand that we check carts, although very few members will refuse to show their receipts. And it's a good place to work!
No reason to do away with door greeters they as re needed and do a damn great job.
You will have major problems and theft without the greeter.
Entrance door is unnecessary. The company has shown that stock shortages are not a big concern as long as sales are going through the front end.
Most of the time members are pretty irritated to see someone sitting on a stool as they walk in.
Maybe the IN door, but With SCAN&GO some one will have to scan the members phone. It's growing in pur club, sometimes it takes 2 OUT door people to keep up.
they could do away with entrance greeter but with scan n go gotta have someone doing it.
I seriously doubt it. Seeing how Walmart has brought them back because they will soon be launching scan and go as well. We also don't have security alarms for activated merchandise. People could just walk right out. Wouldn't make since. Now if you see the security panels come in I would worry a little.
I dare them. Theft will go through the roof and they'll bring the job back within two years.
Maybe reduce the amount since they do the scan and go?
Just their presence keeps down theft. I'll laugh if they eliminate that job because they'll get robbed blind.
Regardless of what greeters do, I feel you have to post someone at the doors. The reason is that without anyone watching, there will be those who will run away with the place. It would be freebie city.
it's true there has been talk about the elimination of door greeters. They don't check receipts are cards anymore. Most of them are old and unfriendly not willing to learn anything new. They stand like statues don't even greet. I say put them on a register.
I haven't heard anything but It would make sense. No one checks cards or receipts anymore. They just put a line on the receipt but don't even look to see what's in the cart.
