Today is 10.12 and so wondering if the rumor became reality or just a rumor? I do read in others threads that some where let go yesterday or beginning of the week. I also read they they are doing it in bits and pieces.
I think Oracle’s focus is shifting drastically and are heading in a wrong direction. They are trying to compete with big Amazon in cloud market and are bound to fail. Just look at the cloud market share of top companies. And also see how Amazon is crushing almost all industries they are entering into. Are MH and LE serious in what they say and predict? I doubt it, they are just trying to protect their money and will try to hang on as long as they can so they have time to liquidate their stocks in mean time. In employee event fee months ago Larry had told us all they stock price will rise. He was very optimistic about future of Oracle but if that is he case then how come there are so many layoffs?

Does anyone have any ideas on the size and scope of the 10/12 layoffs? Will it be more cleanup of the JF organization?

Solaris layoffs started well over a year ago, they kept going, and here you are starting rumours with no basis in fact about a "rethink about Solaris"? Rethink what?
Just like the rumour from two weeks ago about Lenovo buying the SPARC biz.

Storage was the first to get reorged to ES and about 3 weeks later they had a big storage RIF. Right after that Sparc/Solaris was reorged to ES and about 3 weeks later they got their RIF. As to who will be getting it next, who knows?
Last time around, the "Organizational changes" mail was sent to all affected at 6am PT. the day of the RIF. You'll be better off to sign-up for fedex delivery manager, that way you'll know you're on the list. :D
Hi..last round the invite came out the day of the RIF. A rethink? What do you mean - like they think they cut too much? If that's the case, they should be held accountable for bad decision making.
