Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Lost our focus

Reposted because politics have consumed our culture and our focus:

Totally agree that the layoffs were a cultural purge. Dissent is now considered disloyalty. Failure to adhere to the blather regurgitated daily on Zero.Pravda.com is treason. All we seem to care about is how fast we can drop to our knees in protest of whatever offended us today. Mediocrity is awarded like excellence as long as you can claim some victim status while wearing your thousand dollar team kit. We honor millionaire athletes who scream for social justice while they celebrate a profession whose hallmark for decades has been wife beating, illegal drug use, rape, assault and even murder. Remember when we just made great shoes? Yeah, neither do I.

mots powerful line: Only the lives they deem worthy matter to them. It's all about ego and self-promotion. They demand our blind obedience and unquestioned loyalty and we gladly submit.

If you are more of a conservative person in regard to politics, you keep your mouth shut and head down. You can't express your opinions at all, but really politics shouldn't be discussed at work, as it's not professional. A director in our building actually wore a not my president tshirt to work. If anyone had done that while O was pres, that would have been scandalous. She was applauded for wearing that message by many. Regardless of your politics, work is not the place to grandstand. Very immature and unprofessional, but it's not considered either at nike.

I find it good that Nike takes strong political stances. The problem isn't the external politics, it is the internal ones. Nike is truly high school with a paycheck. It is about who's agenda you are backing rather than doing what is right for the company. Also, never take a dissenting opinion or you are labeled as not on board with a vision laid out by your leader, no matter how poor it might be.

The liberal dogma forced fed on a daily basis is divisive and counter to the spirit of athleticism and sports. We used to celebrate achievers, especially those who excelled beyond what was considered the limits of human ability and endurance. We made the products that helped them reach those lofty goals and celebrated their efforts even when they fell short. Now we celebrate self-proclaimed victims. We celebrate ignorance and the rewriting of history to benefit an arrogant elite's agenda. We celebrate millionaires paid to play a game while indulging in every excess and criminal abuse imaginable. We honor those who celebrate cop killers with their very own shoe. Only the lives they deem worthy matter to them. It's all about ego and self-promotion. They demand our blind obedience and unquestioned loyalty and we gladly submit. We are their willing soldiers and useful idiots. Censorship, intimidation and termination rule the day. I'm sure some troll will see this and summon the gods of victimhood to declare me a racist. The real nazis sit on the left hand of god and condemn all those who would dare speak their mind or question their lies. I am done with this nonsense. I actually would have preferred being laid off but was somehow spared that indignity. I am soon off to a better land but in truth left this company years ago. Nike lost its way and won't soon return to the path that made it great. You may find your way but I'm not waiting around to guide you through the darkness. "Once an eagle..."
