Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Advice from someone who actually got laidoff

I got laidoff back In 9/1 with other hundreds.

This is my first time back to this site . Seeing the same email gave me dejavu. Everyone is lost looking for any news to hold to.

My advice to stay till they lay you off BUT act like you already got laid off .. spend hours every day preparing, invest in your resume, refresh your LinkedIn, start networking and talking to people.

I'm saying this because I was like you saying no way this will happen now, maybe in few months , and I'm very important in the team , it's hard to function without me ...etc

Take my advice . Get into emergency mode. Start acting like you already laid off and start looking.

The 2 months WARN notice pass by quick , so start before they start just in case you were lucky to get WARN

The grammar NAZI's are back, here we have someone with small pee pee issues. Someone that comments on grammar on a social media site. Here's how others try to talk down to people that actually care and answer questions.

Try giving a sh1t and answer questions, go home bang your dog or wife and have fun or use your hand.

So d!ck comments on grammar, your/you're: I mean you're a douche bag. Go troll somewhere else you jerk off.

So here we go, someone types a quick response with some grammar issues. Then the fvck stains come out, don't care about intent nor content. So some person uses your instead or you're? Go fvck yourself you elitist piece of sh1t. People come here for information and all you can do is comment on grammar. GET a FVCKING life, you racist bigot.

For @PHFT3CO-3mpn

Your grammar and language skills are amazing. You should quit your job and become a grammar police and correct few typos here and there for adults who discuss real Subjects.

Or if you don’t know the difference between your and you’re it may take you an additional 60 days.

It usually takes someone in a senior position longer than 60 days, don't be discouraged. Some studies state that for every 10K you make it takes an additional month to find a job. Now withe economy in as great a shape as it is and depending where you live, your going to find something.

Don't listen to the idiot from post @PHFT3CO-3vlj.

@PHFT3CO-3rks I was impacted and I do have a new job lined up that is much better than Oracle’s. However, I don’t agree with your opinion. Job hunting varies from person to person and sometimes luck is also a factor. Not able to secure an ideal job in 60 days has nothing to do with how good one is. Just keep learning and looking.

Anyone good impacted by the 9/1 systems/SPARC hardware layoff has already landed a job for more money at other companies. If you can't do that in 60 days you should really be questioning how good you really are at your chosen vocation. My guess is not terribly good nor connected in your industry. Treat this as a life lesson to have better self awareness. All those years of not getting stock should have been a hint.

Good luck.

I just got laidoff from Oracle yesterday, and I totally agree. I thought that I am working on too many things, they need me, they will not let me go. I was told yesterday that my position is no longer needed (the usual BS). Please everyone, do get ready. Never know when they show you the door.

Oracle is in panic mode. They are whacking employees right & left with no thought of what their job was, leaving the rest scrambling to figure out how to cover the rif'ed employees old jobs. Nobody is safe. Totally insane.

I also agree with the OP. I got caught on 9/1, same stuff, I'm working on a critical part of a project. Matters none. I haven't seen the greener grass yet but I can see grass.
