Shame on Walmart

Walmart/Sam’s their own worst enemy. Walmart has always been behind in technology. Sam’s running scared of Costco. neither company has been run worth a dam for years and years. All the so called updates and new machines and technology and still it’s either outdated or doesn’t work. walmart was way too money hungry and wouldn’t keep up. now it’s too late. Poor leadership with no vision. Only reaction and then it’s too late. Your competition is way ahead of the curve. walmart can dump all the associates that kept buildings going and profitable but it isn’t going to help. only a band aid. eventually walmart and sam’s will go by the wayside as many have before them. anyone planning a career with either better think long and hard. watch stores and clubs begin to shut down.

You might wish Walmart to fail. But I’d bet money it will not. The world doesn’t care how a big chain like Walmart-sams treats their employees . Bottom line is cheaper place to shop. Period! Can’t argue that they have the best prices. That’s all people care about. look at the long lines that shoppers put up with at Walmart and Sams.....

That is the downside of an EDLP/EDLC business model. The organization can become focused on the cost of everything and the value of nothing. A firm can actually cost itself out of being relevant by not investing in innovation.

Fortunately, WMT has the cash flow and access to capital to be able to innovate, although the firm got behind in ecommerce. I don’t see a path to WMT catching AMZN in DTC ecommerce, however, I do see a path to where WMT solidifies the brick and mortar locations with a better experience by leveraging technology and remaining competive and relevant to customers.

The Sam’s Club situation is a tough one. Colocating so many Clubs with Supercenters has placed the division in an expensive conundrum when pursuing a higher income Member segment. Additionally, the merchandising assortment has historically not differentiated itself away enough from WMT US. Costco, on the other hand, has a very focused strategy and member segment. There is also a need to better cater to verticals with more solutions-based models.
