Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Does Eddie Lampert or management update associates at all?

Is management reassuring employees at stores or head office through internal communication?

for instance, "hey guys we are not going bankrupt, do not pay attention to it"

I don't want to debate whether sears is going bankrupt or not (bankruptcy is not a black and white issue, everyone guessing about it is purely speculating).......I am really wondering how management is communicating with people on the inside?

Because Eddie has paid off the top management to keep their mouths shut until the last day is that the reason we see non of them moving out. I guess the ones that can move out are luckier than the ones who have their hands tied.

Eddie and few others at the top know his ultimate plan. But he's probably paid them off to keep their mouths shut. For now it's just Rah Rah we are transforming when reality doesn't add up.

Okay that is not entirely true that the management team doesn't try to stop these "fears". When we have our town hall meetings, which is our normal communication tool, they tell us that they are still working toward turning around the company. What more can the management do? There is "junk" in the papers all the time...has been for decades.

Spouse is corporate employee. We don't know anything about a bankruptcy timeline or whether it would be reorganization or liquidation. Corporate employees are as in the dark as store employees.

Shoot, if management told the truth at morning meetings I think all the grunts would jump ship pretty fast and only management would be left to run the show!

I would like to see the store management pushing all that backlog of freight and funding locations on the already full floor!

@1hfk It is so sad and truth you cant say an honest thing because they get on you. If you do managers find out and want to speak to you about it kind of stupid honestly great tool, but if you speak truth they get on your case.

Also pebble isnt helpful the few times I comment for help I don't get a response to fix the issue...

@1hfk That's usually a bad sign that things are pretty much going wrong and they want to keep hush hush.

Communication from corporate headquarters to the stores is through our internal social networking site, Pebble. And there’s never anything negative. All the corporate managers post about how awesome everything is and how great our “transformation” is going. In fact, if an associate asks an honest question about how awful everything seems to be going, they will probably be called in for a “talk” almost immediately. There’s no tolerance for anything that seems even remotely negative.

@@PHa7YFr To put it simple no. Management never tells its associates, atleast not me because they always think we are going to overcome the odds and still be here. Managers will only care about themselves and wont tell their associates. If anyone knows when Sears is going down is mostly Eddie since he is the one that controls the lending. Also the higher ups know. We can all assume our guesses, but if anyone knows its Eddie and by all means he won't tell anyone he will keep saying work hard making you assume the company will survive...

It is business as usual never a word said between the company and management or management and associates. The only of closing or bankruptcy is rumors between associates. Nobody really knows anything until it happens.

I think the most likely scenario is that only a select few know what's truly going on. Perhaps even some in the DM level know the truth but of course they can't tell anyone lower than that. Doing so will probably spread throughout the company like a wildfire and those that spill the beans will be fired almost instantly.

Communication does not exist on those matters the only communication is get those PAs, get those sign ups for SYW but I haven’t heard a push lately for surveys (lol)

The word of the years has been "transformation". The communication is that we are transforming into an "asset light" company. The company has reported in SEC filing that there is growing concern that the company may not survive. Analysts have been predicting bankruptcy for years and the balance sheet shows an unstoppable cash burn. Many assets have been transferred/sold/liened away from Sears Holdings. I have heard that store managers tell their people not to worry.
