Layoffs are planned. It will not depend on a quarterly performance. Spending is about 37% of revenue and the target is 30% by 2020. Most actions need to happen now to glide down due to lead time. First round will be declared this week. Notifications in next 2 to 3. Some groups will go first and they will stagger dates. My group is going down low double figures. SMG and TMG first. BU next but the planning is complete or nearly so.

Specific action in TMG and BU is not yet available. They are deliberating options currently. Various scenarios. One thing cleared up today. Total corp will target around 6 to 7%. Which is very light toward target. Big debate on R&D cuts. That will be heavy.
It's real alright. Any insight into more TMG specific changes/cuts? Aren't they pulling all of the technical folks out and making the ones who meet the cut a part of corp IT?
Intel can go down 30k before risking revenue. My estimate this series of rounds will only take 5k to 10k. Lots of games are played to protect HC and cut expense. Next year there will be no such options. What good is it to know this when it will not change any decisions. Somehow people take comfort in knowing even if the news is not good. Next 3 to 4 weeks details will emerge on individual orgs.

$300B market cap will require growth. Spending at 30% can be achieved 1 of 3 ways. Increase revenue, decrease expense, or a combination of both. They key here, can anyone point to an example of where a company cut expenses and grew at the 10% CAGR required to hit the $300B market cap? As Intel enters new markets, where they don't enjoy MSS, I don't see how you grow without investing SMARTLY.

SMG just anounced new org structure. Low single digit HC reduction for now. If revenue growth does not materialize more will follow. All BU are going through this exercise. Path to 300 and path to 30 have been revealed since summer. Planning is in final phases. Implementation starts today.
