I see someone claiming to be Matthew Townsend of Bloomberg posted here. When Jeff Manning of the Oregonian did the same the thread quickly disappeared. His story didn't even touch the surface of the impact of the layoffs. I don't blame him, probably nobody called him. Good reporters need good sources. Don't be afraid of Nike. They're a paper tiger and will do anything to avoid bad press. Verify the email before you contact Townsend and if you are still there use a private account or phone, not your Nike ones. I'd like to see Bloomberg dig into the state of Nike IT and particularly outsourcing. This is not unique to Nike but we were hit harder than most. Money is being thrown at new buildings and fancy offices for executives while good people are kicked to the curb and jobs are sent overseas. I am now working for a management consulting company. I tell my clients that IT is too important to the financial health and safety of a company to outsource overseas. Any money you save is not worth the risk to the network and their data. Nike will have to learn the hard way I suppose.

Did they ever put a story out? It’s still a giant disaster for those who remain.
I posted this in another thread, but thought it would be useful here:
FWIW, I analyzed the data in the OWBPA Disclosure Statement included with the September severance agreement. The takeaway is that the average age for the 277 laid off was 43.8 years, while the average age for those retained was 38.4 years, a difference of over five years. The probability of this happening through random selection is less than 1 in 10 to the 18th, (less than one in a billion billion), or essentially impossible.
I've left messages for Jeff and Matt.

Hey everyone,
Jeff Manning here, from The Oregonian/OregonLive. I remain interested in talking to anyone willing about the layoffs, the condition of the company, the situation on JM4, the headquarters expansion, the decline of basketball, youth sports and the bribery scandal, the reliance on contract workers, IT and H-1B visas, and anything else you deem important.
The severances, I'm told, have been paid. I'm eager to talk now.
Thanks,
Jeff

Remember Nike has places all over not just Beaverton. There has been leadership or lack of all over. Bully leaders, favorites, mangers who's managers work in other states so no way to talk with them about issues of leadership. Many good people who keep their heads down because they have given up. Many good things about Nike. Right now the segregation of leadership from Directors up is disconnected from the others. Best of luck
Reach out to Townsend, he's on a mission...
It's easy to find out Townsend is legit. He is,
There is no code of silence, only threats and intimidation. That NDA we were coerced into signing with our severance isn't worth the paper it's written on. They knew most of us live paycheck to paycheck and firing us without notice would leave us strapped, so they dangled their blood money in front of us to force us to sign our rights away. Sign or your children starve! My lawyer told me that making it conditional to receiving the money can be seen as extortion, especially by worker-friendly Portland juries. As she so eloquently stated, "you can't fire thousands of people in one town and not effect the jury pool." So while TE is stalking whistleblowers, let's call those reporters and give them something to write about. Hello, can you hear me now?
OP be patient. In about a year you'll be hired by Nike to develop a new management solution for IT. You'll get paid big bucks to tell them what they should already know.
Agreed on Matthew...how do we know he's not a mole? Not kidding.
Friend of a friend in communications that TE asked to look into this thread and get a name.
Isn't there a code of silence related to the severance packages?
