Cannot believe it? Really? Rumors? Lies? Hoax and other things - people do weird things and will lie to you - there are no layoffs again in San Diego.

Yes, my manager told me that he got me off the list, but he had to name two people from his team of ten. Both are in stage 1. But he doesn‘t know when stage 1 will happen.

If merger doesn't close, SM will be let go in Stage 1.

No layoffs yet. Merger has to go through first. But the people who will be let go afterwards are already marked for termination. I have seen the Excel sheets where they collect the names. There is even a plan for staggered reductions as opposed to big bang layoffs.

So if you have a good relationship with your manager, they might even tell you if you are on the list and if you are in Stage 1, 2, 3 or 4.

Oh it will happen. If the acquisition doesn't close it will expose the poor prospects ahead and the only way the CFO knows to improve profits is to cut controllable costs (headcount).

Layoffs boost morale. Just ask corporate welfare queen Elon Musk:

According to the Mercury News, this week’s dismissals have not been reported to the state

Employment Development Department, a spokeswoman said. The state generally requires companies to report layoffs of more than 50 employees in a 30-day period. Tesla countered that the performance-based departures were not considered layoffs and not subject to state notifications.

In an absurd demonstration of Musk's bizarre management style, the company said the mass terminations have "generally boosted worker morale", as high-performing employees have been rewarded. it was unclear what the 700 layoffs, pardon, exit events did to worker morale.
