It's because they are contracting all the work to H1B visa workers from India through Infosys.
Not only did they screw us with a RIF, they now are reducing VZW retirees phone discount to 25%. This is the same discount they are giving to companies like Home Depot! How many billions did they have in profit last quarter? What a joke.
The Upaper Peninsula of Michigan got hit with RIF closing both stores.y Most people will have to drive at least 2 hours to their nearest corporate location which will be in Green Bay WI.
No details but IT had a rif today affecting people in TX at least, not sure about other locations like the ewok village in basking ridge.
Happy for myself but ever mindful of the people who were cut for no good reason other than to satisfy wall street.
Why should NYC be any different from anywhere else? RIFs are on a consistent schedule around here
There won’t be anything for field techs in March 2018. Many garages already are low on qualified cable techs. We need to get temps in those crews. If we are lucky it could be the fall. But realisticly 2019. At least I’m hoping so.
More like 2018 training for the next work stoppage in 2019.

Notice that all NOCs and NMCs will be migrated outside of Vz LEC region. Less union influence in states like TX and NC.
NYC = FIOS unions, non-union wireless retail stores, PNB people in midtown, and Diego's crew downtown - and that group isn't getting cut.
