I have spoken to a few that got the call last week. Oct 31st is their last day and 30 days severance. No ghost period .. Q3 results are not good and they are trying to avoid paying dividends. Do not be surprised if before the end of the month that others get the call. They will try to get rid of as many additional employees prior to Dec 8th? (cannot remember what the cutoff day is for dividend payouts ) If you are still working for them and you haven't started looking for employment elsewhere then you are burying your head in the sand.

The dividend is all IBM stockholders have. It they don't pay a dividend the stock will be dumped.
