It's amazing to read this:

When you look at the actual cloud oracle page, this is now exactly what oracle is doing.

ES should have been fired years ago, but he seems to member of the LE, MH and SC gang.

How sad it is ...

Imagine how much closer we would be to the competition if LE and he buddies had the sense not to interfere with Sun's IaaS. What a mind-boggling failure of vision.

Oracle looks healthy from outside but is rotting inside. MH has destroyed the morale in sales and TK has done that to engineering. How will the company produce winning products in this kind of atmosphere.

OP is correct. Oracle invests too little in public cloud as compare to the major players. Oracle cares too much about present profit. This will just get worst.

It's good to move this to a top post. Oracle is a huge mess. I am of the opinion that LE is just not the great visionary he tries to make out he is.

I don't really know of anything that LE has done right other than the core oracle db that was developed and I would bet that if you knew what went on at that time, that success was mostly due to the hard work of developers and managers who knew what they were doing at that time and didn't get a lot of credit. I'd bet just about anything that LE is just an idiot who talks a lot, like Trump. The cloud will fail, they won't put the money or effort behind it, just like they didn't put the money or effort behind fusion apps. LE thinks, like Trump, that he can just make things happen by talking about them like they already happened. The internal situation is a huge mess.

Cloud will not happen at Oracle. If you work at Oracle and you want to actually do some useful work, you need to leave. There are some smart people in that area, they just need to look at the reality of the situation rather than listen to LE's propaganda.
