I've just started working for Oracle. This is the company I've always wanted to work for so please don't fall for the negativity on this forum. Oracle is a great place to work as it has excellent executive level leadership and an impressive software portfolio. Oracle Cloud is making amazing inroads on their competitors. I am glad I chose to come to Oracle. I had offers from Google, Microsoft and Facebook.

Hey you bitter dinosaurs. Some of us watch the layoff.com because we used to work for other companies and have people getting RIFd there. There are some great divisions of Oracle where you get raises, people are treated like humans, and gasp we make money for the company. If you are still around, you can say you're thank you because we are influencing change. If not, crawl back into your fossil.

This board was supposed to be an experience and news exchange from and for Oracle employees. Now it's full of fake and smoggy comments coming from Oracle HR and external professionals from an Oracle paid company (yes, there are companies specialized in doing this kind of viral campaign).

I actually agree with the OP. Oracle is an exciting place to work and unfortunately I was RIF'd due to my job position being surplus. I get the business reasons for this so don't feel too bad after getting the severance package. But I loved working for Oracle and thought they were wonderful. They are such a great place to work that they are my preferred destination if I can get back inside. Oracle is a very dynamic and thriving place to work with A Team players all around. You don't have that calibre of employees at many companies. So sad to be let go but I don't hate Oracle and would be thrilled to be working there again as I always found the execs to be very in touch with the employees.

Good for you, after you hit a point and don't receive a pay raise or bonus after 2 years. Then you ask, may I see the bonus plan or pay ranges? Oracle HR says no to both, but in any company in the whole wide world you have access to such information. Remember HR manager training 101 "Oracle don't do pay raises!".

agree with the op. i am a new oracle hire to. i had several offers but oracle sounded like the best work/life balance and they pay very well.

Congratulations! Glad you are happy with your decision. I too was very excited when I started. It may take awhile but you will see the dark side. Years of busting butt, working whatever hours required with not so much as a 1% raise or a thank you for the extra effort will take it's toll on you.

You do not know what you have gotten yourself into. Give yourself a couple of years and you will realize that you have made a mistake. Wait till your manager expects you to sabotage someone else, wait till an acquisition occurs that replaces whatever you have been working on for years and you realize it's you or them, wait till your manager asks you to do something ridiculous that can't be done then blames you for be uncooperative. You'll get there. It takes a while.
