$3.7B acquisition of AppDynamics and the top ppl are leaving

https://www.cnbc.com/2017/10/16/former-appdynamics-ceo-jyoti-bansal-plans-start-up-harness-io.html

No surprise here. Thank you Cisco for the money, we have no interest in working for you. Please insert all your "oh so experienced" executives to run this business into the ground, but atleast we have our money.

Win for AppDynamics, loss for Cisco.

I soooo hear you @5hhc.

We were acquired two years ago. A year later we got a group of engineers from Cisco freed from a project which Cisco just killed. And what a bunch of mediocre (at best!) a....es that was. Pre-y2k technologies (and even with these they had a huge gaps); work ethic at the sea-level; They were a real drag when we tried to involve them in what we were doing. Finally, we gave them a self-contained piece of work which would take a group of 3-4 normal engineers maybe eight weeks to fully finish. It took them 10 MONTHS to do this with more than 10 people. And at the end they called it a great success. It was beyond ridiculous.

So yes - maybe there is some engineering talent somewhere at Cisco - but I did not see ANY so far.

Joined Cisco via acquisition and have yet to meet a decent engineer. What's more worrisome is that management generally LR the best Cisco incumbents and what's left I'd not hire for Dominoes. Had I not come here via acquisition I'd never have joined Cisco is a million years, my time here has confirmed that Cisco only knows how to run businesses into the ground. The closest thing Cisco gets to innovation are the t-shirts you see people where in the gym. Or some lame a-- CiscoTV/Cisco Beat nonsense. I feel for the folks who have given Cisco 20 odd years, maybe t was good back in the day. But I cannot wait to leave, the culture, environment and management s---.

Who says Cisco engineers can't innovate? They have innovated new process, new dashboard, new PowerPoint slides, new activities to celebrate Diwali ...

That's because Cisco engineers can't innovate. They just want to ride the easy gravy train till retirement. Only alternative left for Cisco is to buy new companies and hope that things will work out.
