Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Oracle cuts are company wide

I was at an outplacement session. More than half of the people were ex-Oracle employees. There were people from software sales, consulting, middleware app development, Sun, software and hardware support, everything. I thought Oracle was just cutting all the old Sun people, but they are cutting everything like crazy. People were saying they'd been cut along with 50% of their departments, others said the entire department got cut. The outplacement staff said there had been a lot of Oracle people come through at the start of the year and a large group recently. They've been told there are more to come.

That's correct. They have been cutting in all the lines of business. I was laid off after 10 years and have a lots of Oracle contacts. As for NA Technology Sales, they have made cuts in Consulting, SCs, Sales, Product Marketing and Business Development. No one is safe.....

If you aren't a contractor, I believe everyone laid off was given option to sign up for Right Management outplacement for a one month service. Mine just finished, but you still get access to their site and availability of some services as long as you sign in at least once every 90 days. Look in your packet of information and you should find the info on RM. Contact them if you didn't sign up and they may be able to get you set up.

This is interesting. Could be that the counts on here could be missing a lot of people. There are only 2000 or so views of any post on here and Oracle has 130,000+ people, so I suspect that there are a lot of people not posting anything here. The counts here might be significantly off.
