Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Talk about that prison feeling

Until the new system showed up last week, my Sears store allowed you to clock in at any of the computers on the floor and the manager's computers. Now it is only allowed on the manager's computers located way back in the office. More time to walk to this area and time spent waiting in line to clock in because multiple people start their shift at the same time. The managers receive immediate notification if you are 5 min early or 5 minutes late and they have to approve your punch in real time. If you shift ends and you haven't clocked out exactly on time, they are notified too. It's what I imagine a prison to be like with the guards keeping a close eye on you.

Never mind that the majority of employees in my store are middle aged or older and have been with the company for decades. Decades of not abusing the time clock but trying their best in the face of difficult corporate decisions. Makes me both mad and sad.

Bumped from @PIHo3oK-6jca, perfectly described.

@1htm, I bet your a SHLD troll. Let me make something clear you. A-Hole. The only way SHLD is going to be able to get better employees is to pay more.

SHLD has the worst turnover rate out of all major retailers.

If you were a store manager I did an interview with. And you behaved this way in an interview towards potential employees. Who would want to work for you.

I bet your turnover rate is horrible. No one would want to work for you with that nasty attitude.

You get paid what you're worth. Why would a company whose sole responsibility is to turn a profit pay you a penny more than they have to?

@1gde, Shut Up, you should be happy. That you at least have employees that come to work. Quit whining.

Sears/Kmart pay less than any employer in my area. Most employers start at $8 and up.

If you want to look where I am at. I am in zip code 29412

That's because you all just clock in up front and then take 20 minutes putting your lunch away and preparing for your shift. Clock in when you're ready to serve our members and not a minute earlier.

@1gsx - If you need crack they can probably sell it to you!

I get that prison vibe too. As a customer, it feels like most Sears employees are on their first trial ‘work release’ job. If I need crack, they probably can answer my questions

@1mka I don't think thats the point here. It just s---s that now the computers are limited. I honestly hate going to the office to clock because at times I don't want to see managers faces. They go and ask how many credit apps, s2h, leases, PA, SPPs, Loyalty score, and I can go on, but sometimes you get nothing and they give you this negative vibe like its all your fault. I don't have a problem with the clocking system its just not having it as accessible as we did and now you have to log in to clock in which delays time if your coming in a rush.

If you come in time and punch when you are supposed to, then no reason for you to complain. At the end of the day nothing has changed. It will weed out those people that steal company time.

I work Backroom grace period is still 6 minutes, i usually punch in 6 min. early so I am set up for pick-up at store opening. All backroom computers can be used to punch in our store, MPU, UPS, RTV/PMT & Hub. Don't know why they didn't allow it on the training & sales floor computers. Maybe somebody from corporate can answer?

@cxo Technically a salaried employee is on-duty and/or available 24x365 so assuming a person is being paid $50k a yr they're making $5.70 an hr --- wanna switch

@cxo Any time you want to switch your max 40 hours with my 50-60 hours you let me know, the next time you dont want to deal with a complaining customer and call for a manager.... dont , deal with it yourself, instead of the SGM b--ching at me because you cant get credit ill send him to speak with you

Everyone relax. Managers have always had access to the reports that say you’re late. This changes virtually nothing.

Yep it’s true confirmed it today with the only decent manager left in our store!

They get notified right away when you’re early or late

I think salaried people shd be clocking in too!! They leave whenever they want and nobody is keeping track of their abuse!

There are other computers you can log into to use the new time clock. Just search for the computers with an actual tower that's layer sideways under the monitor that you have to log into to use. MPU RES and most managers computers work for this.

Confirmed, at least at my store anyway. Only one computer now has this function. Our b*tchy ASM uses that computer, so if she's doing something and I need to clock in and she pitches a fit, I won't clock in. I'll just leave for good.

How about updating things that matter, like the SNCs and the registers?

@alu... but it’s not. It’s just going to make the process more streamlined for managers. Every week we have to go through all these “exception” reports for early and late punches, lunch violations, etc. Now we can just deal with them in real time instead. There’s no changes to the rules, other than having to punch in at specific computers.

We are always complaining about outdated technology, and now we’re complaining about updates?

Now I understand why the ither computers don’t accept punches.. very interesting

Is it true the 6 min grace is down to 5?

Wonder why nobody said anything to the employees about this instant notice if you’re late or early punch.. I know the old system did generate report on paper showing all that stuff

You would think it would be close to doors since they are instantly notified anyway! It’s crummy that they put so far away for the elderly workers
