Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Spring merchandise...

So I'm an MCA that handles the kids dept. (and most everything on the second floor of our store). We get plenty of merchandise shipped to us and winter stuff is showing up in mass quantities of course. BUT in the past days I have also seen some spring 2018 stuff show up already. Mostly just some Toughskins girls sets and some casual spring dresses (don't recall the brand). (It's already hard enough to find room for all the winter things!)

Is that weird, or just a fluke and nothing to worry about? In the back of my head I keep thinking maybe they're trying to push spring stuff early "just in case," because the future of this company is uncertain...? :\

C8: Core Product received for 2018 (like basics we always have)

F8: Fall 2018

H8: Holiday 2018

Hope that helps.

The Ann Arbor Sears has had snow blowers on its sales floor since early July. The inventory management is just BIZARRE!

[Op] Correction... it is yellow tags I've seen. That's actually summer, right? Spring is pink? Um... It was pointed out to me a bit ago how to recognize the year, and it does have an 8. (S8?) Not seen anything more so far other than the little bit of Toughskins, but still find it really odd that this showed up on a recent truck.

Also, to add a tag gripe, I've also started to notice some random things coming in that are put on the wrong size hanging (the marked size, not actual hanger size) and subsequently are given the wrong size on the tag as well. Not that big of a big deal, but a little annoying when trying to size it when I put it out, and curious if it's cuts on that end or laziness.

They may be sending old stock to be liquidated in a closing store that has not been announced or they could be looking for places to store these products. We will not know until the next closing lists are released.

This is a total liquidation folks, don't hold your breath for anything good to come of this, unless your looking for the end. Because its just around the corner

Just put the stock on rollaway carts. Makes it easier to liquidate in a few months aways.

@PRA1PiF-1fbi Except they are sending A LOT and actually it seems a bit too early to start sending it en mass.

With the new Simple Store process everything shipped goes out to the floor. We were told no exceptions. So, if you are getting spring merchandise, it has to go out to the floor, lack of fixtures or floor space be damned.

I told everyone that Simple Store was going to be pretty interesting in 4th quarter. It looks like I'm going to be right.

If anyone ever did anything properly at this company, they would have waited until after the holidays to ship spring merchandise, now that Simple Store has been foisted upon the stores. It would be no big deal to get spring merchandise before Simple Store because it could have been stocked, which we can no longer do.

Now the floor is going to be a tightly packed maze of a mess having to mix winter with spring. Some stores will not be able to get everything out due to a lack of fixtures or floor space, so they will literally resort to breaking the rules by stocking the excess.

They always start to send spring merchandise before winter is over with. This is nothing new, if you have worked for Sears and are not "new" you should know this, come on people.

Is this just leftover stock from previous years? Seriously, Sears has trouble stocking the stores for right now non the less 5 months away

@1lzl This would just overall make much sense I mean if I was the owner of a company and I am in debt and I can maybe pull off more merchandise buy getting it via credit and say I am not doing financially good I will milk it as much and than just file for bankruptcy and call it quits.

My Shoe department has never been this bad I mean we are overloaded with so much truck our shelf's are running out of room like its a mess in our stock rooms. Oh, but biggest problem is they are giving us sh-- hours to try to keep up. I never seen it this bad I feel its just the beginning of the end I mean a huge hint is $400 million is due this January I feel Sears will flake and just run with whatever they can.

[Op reply] Yeah, I was surprised when I saw the spring tags. I don't remember anything showing up quite this soon last year. But I won't worry about if is not unusual, thanks. :)

our sears shoe stock room is bursting , stock on every shelf in the back stockroom because theres no place to put them on the floor, face it folks this is an internal liquidation. They are emptying out the warehouses by shipping to the remaining stores, this is product that has already been paid for with the 400 million Eddie gave sears months ago. It was posted this money was going to the purchase of the holiday season product, so this is no surprise we are getting product these past few weeks that's way more then usual. Beware the BK is coming soon. watch the stock prices next week and who will jump ship next will it be another vendor VERY LIKELY, and what board member will leave as not to get involved in the court battles Eddie will soon be in

Not unusual. Both Sears and Kmart have had this happen before. If you look at the tags, the season should be on them.
