Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

11/2/17 Retail/B2B Support Layoff. B2B Layoff

Latest Rumor : Retail and B2B support will be slashed by 80% nationwide. Operations positions throughout the nation will almost be eliminated . B2B will receive a reduction for commission based positions as well. Inside retail stores will not see reduction for commission based positions. Hopefully this is just a rumor.

Retail retards think iPhone 1000 (dollars) is going to save jobs. Stupidest thought process ever. But it's retail. Nothing but morons there who have no idea layoffs are planned months in advance.

They just need to hurry up and hire minimum wage Walmart types to fill the stores with and clerk it out.

Days of growth = throw money around and idiots get paid like software engineers.

Days of commodatization = Pay minimum wage to the uneducated morons clerking car chargers.

Gone are the days of growth. Welcome to the era of commododitzation.

The iPhone launch with devices costing upwards of $1000 will probably need a subsidy to get people to buy at that price point. The money has to come from someplace. I don't think people will be rushing to the retail stores to buy the new iPhones at full retail prices.

Agreed. If anything they will boost employment across the board. The new iPhone launch will be massive and I can't wait.

Most anticipated launch? You mean the stupid iPhone 1000? Who the f-- cares.

This does not make sense. Why would they reduce headcount and support staff before the most anticipated launch?

OPS and ENG will get a whack also. Build plan will be slashed to save the $10B the company guru's have promised Wall Street. Time will tell.

So all retail in store employees are commission based now. Are you saying they are NOT affected by this?

Although I will believe it when I see it, I think it's totally possible. There is way too much support out there for both retail and b2b. With national standards being adopted, reducing regions from twenty to just six, this is very plausable. Most reporting can be run out of HQ and so many processes have become automated and streamlined.

@glg... It certainly could run that way. Maybe not efficiently... but it could. The company would simply have the sales roles responsible for what ops was doing. Do more with less concept.

OP - this is a pot stirring. Think about how much sense that makes. The company couldn’t run that way. B2B is currently posting the growth for the entire company.. hence why they’re adding resources there....
