Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Screwing the american People

I feel that BK has let down the American people by layingoff more than 12,000 employees, to turn around and ask to allow more that 14,000 H1B and Green cards for individuals from other country's. This is the replace the American workers, and put a LOWER paid invidual in there place, I also seen where Mr BK made a substantial amount of money for this layoff, which is great for him but what about me and my family? These individuals at the top are so greedy, they have no compassion for the worker which has produced for Intel for over 20 years. And was successful each and every year for those 20 years, It is SAD that this company has gone to this, I belived in this company, I think we all did and this is what we get for doing such a great job. It is GREED over COMPASSION. I feel that Mr BK is driving this once GREAT company to RUINS. Have a great Day.

For starters, he didn't layoff 12K people. A lot took the ERP. That was voluntary.

Sorry to say that greed is nothing new. It's been around, and scr*wing people, for a long, LONG time. You just now got caught up in it and it opened your eyes.

You just get to know what the true capitalism is... You can't blame BK and other high managements; they "earned" the title somehow, some way. It's his company now and he can decide what/how he want the company would go/do; it's not you, unfortunately/fortunately.

Also, interesting to see, someone quoted contracte headcount; close to 100K? Clearly the company cannot operate without 200K heads then. That's the reality. Hence it draws more money, no matter regular/contract.

I would see the contracts being just a lazy managements's solution by putting heads into a projects to finish jobs, and these are simply old-fashioned. So it's better cut those useless managements first, before cutting back regular/contract

@1ypl just shows the level of idiocy and lack of factual knowledge on the side of the „They took our jeerbs“ crowd.

L1s take American jobs unnecessarily? I‘ll give you a counter example that you can actually go and double check yourself. For the iPhone integration with Apple, L1s were shipped to Cupertino from Europe and India to work there temporarily (yes, temporarily, seeing how L1 is a temporary visa). Depending on the specific arrangements, those people cost Intel $5000–$10000 a month ON TOP of their salaries. That is not even taking the visa costs into account (try finding out sometime how much Fragomen charges us per issued visa). If you don‘t believe this, then try finding out who went to Cupertino. It‘s not so difficult to get that information. Then ask them. You think there is a single manager in Intel who will approve that kind of an arrangement if there is an American who can do the job? You think those L1 people are „cheap“ for Intel? Once again, go find out who these people are and ask them about the costs of their stay in the US.

But I have a feeling that won‘t help, as you are obviously completely resistant to facts, seeing how your only counter arguments are always just „You must be an HR paid shill.“ You have no counter argument to the argument that Intel‘s money (and your salaries) come also from foreign sources other than „You must be HR!“ You have no management experience, yet you think FLMs are somehow removing Americans from consideration for a position to hire cheaper H1Bs. You guys would be funny if you weren‘t allowed to vote.

The ACT did not save costs. Unfortunately the exit packages were too large. In addition games played by FLM and SLM increased our workforce of both BB and GB. Today Intel has close to 100K green badges. ACT eliminated 15K positions but we are down only net 5K.

What is even worse than H1B for critical roles, which is necessary. Is the hiring of unecessary L1 visa holders who are taking american jobs unnecessarily. Jobs should prioritize US CITIZENS by law. L1 should not displace us workers but they do. Time to fire them all.

I don't think the OP is nearly as unintelligent as the FLM who quoted, "Intel has no obligation to America or its people."

That's going to look REAL good in the media. you better hope your identity is as anonymous as you foolishly hope it is.

First of all, H1Bs were also laid off in ACT. You seem to be living under the false idea that only Americans were hit by ACT. Nice of you to only think of American families and not of the families of those who had to pack their bags from one day to the next upon losing their work permits.

Second, ACT was not about work force reduction, but about refocussing. So there is a reason why Intel is bringing in different people than the ones who were laid off.

Third, your grammar and orthography are atrocious, and you are barely coherent. If an H1B comes across as more intelligent than an American, then why should Intel hire the American?

Fourth, the "Cheap H1B" may exist in other companies, but at Intel, it is a myth. I am an FLM, and the H1Bs in my team are not paid less than the Americans. In fact, relocation costs and visa costs are an annoying burden on my budget whenever I have to hire an H1B because no suitable American applied.

Fifth, Intel has no obligation to America or its people, but only to its shareholders. And a rather huge portion if Intel's profits comes from other countries. You were happy for 20 years with being paid from those foreign profits, but you get angry when Intel hires foreign workers? That is a rather huge case of hypocrisy. Or did you reject the part of your salary that came from other countries? No? Did you complain when Intel made billions from processor sales in Europe that went into R&D and fabs in the US? No? Then don't you dare speak about greed and compassion, because greed suited you fine while you benefitted from it.
