Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

LTIH cuts

Coach 22 said huge LTIH cuts, someone else said 50% of the program. My questions are these, first what happens to those members? The usual process is that telephonic HCM will manage those members, but with the rumor being that they will also be cut will there be enough of them to handle that big of an influx of members? Second, when they say LTIH do they mean the contract FCMs or the ones who actually work for Humana? I know a contract FCM and she makes significantly more than HCM with no experience as a nurse at all and not even a BSN. The company she works for does things like fly all of their associates to their main office and take them out to baseball games. I'm sorry, i know it's petty, but I'll be mad if I'm let go and someone who never even worked as a RN and only has an associates degree stays making more money than I was.

Also note a lot of the WAH positions currently listed actually listed preferred "road warrior" or someone who likes to travel long distances. WAH, but apparently just for the paperwork portion.

If you do get cut, remember 6 month separation required before you can work for a contract agency as a network associate. Some also do not supply computer or phone and do not pay mileage. I know because I have applied to get part time work with the network agencies. Work is only available as they have members available in your assigned geographic area.

Last week there was a lot of talk about an email that would be coming “very soon”. Any more info on that?

They can say whatever they want during townhalls, but the quality of work isn't even close between the network and HAH fcm's. Fraud is rampant on the network side.

Don't get angry at each other. Remember who the bad guy is here. We all get the best job we can and the best deal. Be angry at the bas%%%ds who manipulate the system and put us in fear of our jobs.

at OP... that's such BS regarding the town hall meeting. Human is just trying to justify laying off the fcm associates

FCM here. I just have to stay there while I appreciate all of the information and post that have kept me updated during the past year, I still feel like the rug is being pulled out from under me this week. I really enjoyed working for Humana and I'm sad to see this job end.

According to that town hall meeting with BB the director of the LTIH program she stated FCM contract workers score better against Humana

What? She has never worked as a nurse and only has a 2 year degree and makes more than an experienced 4 year degree nurse? FCMs do the exact same thing HCMs do, only in person. How is HCM a BSN and experience required position, but FCM isn't? That doesn't make any sense

The network is much cheaper, but the quality of work isn't conparable.

Contracted employees are not always cheaper. My former company did a cost base analysis on contracting through an agency or hiring directly. The fees the contracted charged were triple the salaries of direct hires so even when adding benefits the costs were fairly equal. The contracting agencies build their over head fees and salary into the contract fees. The benefit of contracted employees is no severance if they decide to go another direction. They can "try it before They buy it". We ended up buying out the contracts of the best employees.

The members currently seen by FCM's will be transferred to the network. Humana doesn't "cut" or fire network care managers, they just don't give them more referrals.

Yes I have been suspecting that this program will go to contract workers. Even the telephonic. The fact that now when the member is transferred to LTIH that nurse continues the telephonic care tells you they're moving to just contract workers . Contract workers are much cheaper for Humana and if they decide they don't want to continue with the program they can just not renew their contract and don't have to worry about layoffs or severance . From a purely money standpoint makes sense

Network is cheaper for Humana ...no benefits (no 401k match, no insurance, no PTO). Look up your "total value" on HI, you may be surprised at your compensation level when all the perks are added to your salary.

It's all about the money.
