Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Early leave

I’m an accounting lead and have been told that I do not have to wait until December 1st to leave. I can still draw my severance package even if I choose to leave early. I am afraid to believe this and if I do I will be screwed. Any one hear of such?

your severance is based on worked hours so if you're using pto time you will lose out pto will not count as worked hours so watch what you do

no matter what they say don’t believe it. look what they’ve already done. stay in place til dec 1. and work a full 40 hrs each week. lies and half truths. protect yourself.

You can leave before but the CM have to agree on that date. If not, no severance. Most CM's are keeping everyone to set up machine and train the cashiers through dec 1st. All up to the CLub manager.

I am an accounting lead, and thanks for the post about the severance pay being based on the last 12 (weeks?). I won't be taking any PTO now. And I have only heard that we have to stay, work, help anywhere we are needed until the 1st to get severance.

Don't forget the fact that after we do all that, they will all get their Sams share and we won't. Bitter, you better believe I am. I have lost ALL respect for this company and now understand why so many people hate Walmart. People tell us to move to another position in the club, but they don't understand the fact that the company isn't hiring any full time people anymore. I wasn't even offered the chance at another position. I will stay, get my severance and then draw as much unemployment as I can off of them. I'm not sure who they expect to find to work the available hours or who will answer all the questions they will have when all of the people with the knowledge are gone. If they think the managers or COS's are going to step up and do more, good luck to that I say.

They are making us stay to get this robot going, clear the cash out then train cashiers and whoever they find to work acct, not that I would call it acct or cash office anymore. So basically we are being used and abused at their discretion. How many are readily willing to train your replacement?

I'm also an accounting lead and have been told no such thing. My understanding is that I have to stay until Dec 1 in order to get the severance package and be eligible for unemployment. Also the severance package is based on your worked hours for the last twelves you work, so be sure and work 40 hours and don't use any PTO.

Since you're an "Accounting Lead," what do the "numba's" say??

It's kind of like a CEO deciding on whether or not to stay or go...
