Thread regarding Advance Auto Parts Inc. layoffs

AAP has created all of it's problems by being cheap

Advance has created all of it's problems by being cheap. You can not expect sales to increase when you decrease stock in your stores and warehouses, and hire part time kids at minimum wage with no automotive knowledge as the employee that interact with the customer. Commercial customers "do not" want some wise a-- punk taking care of them and trying to force the wrong parts or worse, your stupid specials that can be bought else where for less. Advance is paying way to much in salary at the top and getting crap results, heads at the top need to roll.

Right. Cost-cutting the way to greatness has never been a viable strategy.

Hey McFly. learn to read the how being "cheap" is stated. The company itself is cheap, as in tightwads, the prices on their parts are far from cheap and that is yet another problem they can not grasp.

Cheap??

$8 for a quart of oil??

I buy all my auto parts at RockAuto (.com), and fluids at Wal-Mart.

Auto part stores are pricing themselves out of business due to their mergers and pandering to Wall St.

A lot of the "advance" people left when the change to Raleigh happened. Most of the corporate structure now is left over Carquest guys.

Exactly right on them being cheap! The only thing I would like to add is that the current upper management couldn’t manage it with any amount of money period!

All you and I have to do is look how much the stock has fallen and that alone spells bad management period!

Yet they continue to follow their same foolish paths as the stock value continues to decline. They have no idea whatsoever to fix it.

They don’t list to the customers because in their eyes the customer doesn’t know how to run their own business without the help of the AAP brain , all the while AAP is running their own business right off the cliff!

That's exactly right. And it's not going to change unfortunately. This is the worst managed Co I ever worked for. They bought CARQUEST and now they are running it in the ground. They have no respect in the industry and they can't figure out why. No help in the stores I used to take pride in customer service to the commercial customer but they have taken away. Trying to retain the CQ customer is getting harder every day.
