Layoffs this week at Walmart Home Office

I heard more this week. Friday supposed to be the day at the Home Office. Then I heard Nov. 20th. Never ends.

Just in time for the holidays! This is now WM as we know it. No respect for the individual.

Sad to hear about realty. But with them not opening as many stores, it isn't shocking.

Well-put, 1flx. When I got laid off, it felt like a 100 pound weight got lifted off my chest. I wasn't sad, angry, or scared. I was happy!!

@idon, wrong! Never heard of a company that let's go of people who receive "role model" reviews at the whim of an insecure boss who is trying to save his own backside. There is so much nepotism going on there it has become completely dysfunctional.

There is no "we" either, you're on your own with that one Mr. or Ms. kool-aid drinker.

@1flx - name one please - I think we just reflect what's going on everywhere

there are still great companies to work for, where if you do good work, and get good reviews, there is job security and none of the daily anxiety

Since people are catching on to HR booking vendor rooms and using that to pinpoint when a layoff event will happen, do you not think HR could ask anyone in leadership to book a room under their name and still use it for layoff? For that matter, they could still book the room under the guise of a "Halloween event, " and lay you off in that room.

Point is, no one knows when layoffs are going to happen, they want it that way. Knowing a specific date isn't doing anyone any good either, it won't change the fact that people are getting let go. Anxiety is high, which is bad. However, be as in control of your own destiny as you can be by being ready for it, and knowing what some other options for employment for yourself might look like.

Do not take it personally if it happens to you! Walmart is not a good place to work, it hasn't been for a long time; it's highly dysfunctional. Other employers are not like Walmart, there are still great companies to work for, where if you do good work, and get good reviews, there is job security and none of the daily anxiety. For Walmart to make anxiety and total job insecurity the new norm is complete BS.

There will probably be a last push before Dec 3 to avoid paying bonus to those laid off. I don't see how they can cut more in Merchandising after 2 solid rounds of cuts earlier this year. I am wondering when Transportation/Logistics will be hit. I don't think I've heard anything about layoffs there, could be wrong...

I'm hearing more layoffs, too. Merchandising this time supposedly. I guess it's hurry up and wait to see if it's true.

Anymore if you just wait long enough, somewhere they are culling the herd. And they wonder why grass roots s---ed.

Before we pass judgement, can someone on the inside pull the meeting planners for the vendor rooms? If the rooms are reserved, with vague explanations from the People Group, then you can bet the farm that something is in the woodpile!! Also, count your blessings if you get laid off vs. FIRED on B.S charges. To elaborate, I have heard from multiple sources that many departments are now resorting to FIRING long-term, high-pay band associates vs. laying them off. The reasons are obvious - to save money so McMillon, Walton and there's no reason to stick around for the finale!!
