It crossed my mind this morning that the reason why Humana higher-ups are so slow in announcing the next round of layoffs we all know is coming is because they are trying to see how many people they can cut without severance, mainly through firings due to bad performance and people quitting on their own under pressure. I have seen both things happen in the last week (the performance firing was pure crap, I hope the person sues them). Are they trying to wait us out?

They aren’t “waiting people out”. You have to elevate your thinking about this. These actions have big impacts on earnings and financial projections and messaging to shareholders. They are needing to finalize the impact of early retirement and other financial projections. Believe me, our senior team is doing way more sophisticated things than playing chicken with associates.
You're not automatically gone if you're on a PIP
How long is a pip for?
ok so if they do put you on a PIP do you still get paid the 60 days?
PIP=Performance Improvement Plan
What is PIP
Great like we needed more stress added to us!!!!
Anyone on a PIP will be gone, and PIPs can be for anything, not just performance.
OP - you nailed it. PIPs and Delayed Layoffs. Way to save.
Yep- just heard a good coworker is just put on a PIP! How convenient and what timing!
What termination due to performance? I missed that.
