Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Employee Morale IS My Morale

Lots of talk on here about employee morale. I can't speak for anyone else but I am a current Sears employee & my morale is lower than a zero. This is not due to reading on this board posts by stock market manipulators. It is from the way the company has handled my coworkers and myself for a long time.

Finding this board has actually given me a boost psychologically by confirming that it not just my store or my assine, greedy & useless manager with severe issues but company wide these problems exist. I try not to dwell on the negative while at work & focus on my job but it's almost relaxing to come here to see that I am not alone after a grueling draining shift at work.

@img Don't let this company or your store manager bring you down so much that it affects your personal life. Believe me I know it is difficult I am in the same boat but just try to remember that this is only temporary soon it will all be over. I am lucky because I work with some amazing leaders and that is the only thing that keeps me going in there every day. Wish you and everyone else on this board the best!

The manager really sets the tone on the store level. If you have a great one or even a decent one, work isn't so bad. Let's face it. The associates in the stores right now are a loyal bunch. But a bad power hungry lazy manager is the pits.

Everyone knows the company is going through tough financial times but making associates feel valued is FREE. I don't mean the half hearted attempt to recognize anniversary and birthday dates. I mean stop threatening people's jobs, stop talking down to them. Get up from behind that smelly desk and wait on some members. If someone has been going above & beyond, don't give them a hard time when they need a particular day off. You're not giving them too many hours anyway. Say thank you.

When the associates call for an MOD, come right away. Bring the change to the registers when a customer is waiting. Post the schedule including the manager's schedule. Don't try to hide when certain managers are supposed to be there and they are not. They make a lot more than we do & them not showing sets a bad tone.

I'm sure that others have suggestions too. Things that do not cost the company money but make the work environment better.

@img Wish I could help you out as a lot has to do with your manager. I am at HE and have a good manager. We are swamped as there are fewer associates, but I do what I can and try the best I can to enjoy my job as I do like what I do. Don't let your store manager bring you down.

Sears is liquidating. Sears doesn't have the interest or time to put forth about employee morale or employee concerns. Get over it. Get out of Sears and have a life.

As my wife has told me , i seem very depressed this last year, and my job at sears have consumed my life. I can't agree morr with her, As I'm a ASM my SGM is one of the old school managers that sits behind his desk and trys to run the store. He barely knows how to ring a register, he won't handle an customer complaints, just passes them down to us. He is the MAIN reason i hate my job!!!! You folks are right by saying the management is what is bringing down this company, to many like him have and do drive away the great team members. Including myself, i put job applications out every day in hopes i can save my own life and marriage

I am glad this site helps out. I am from HE, and honestly despite what many think we have never been told at HE to look at this site or not look at this site. This type of site exists for practically all retailers as I have looked at Walmart the layoff too. This is a good outlet because naturally not everyone feels comfortable with Pebble as expected. It is nice when people post their experiences, thoughts, etc. You just have to know their will be occasional sarcasm too which is okay if that helps the person. And there will always be the nasty posters who say things like drain the swamp which is an expression I have never heard before these posts.

It’s over for this brick and mortar dinosaur.

They will file for bankruptcy very soon after the severe mismanagement of the company

When I found this site it really feels like your not alone. A lot of people that work for this company that also have issues at their work place talking about their situation and scenarios makes you feel better in the end of the day. What I like about this site is getting informed before the managers know its kind of nice knowing where the company is heading and the changes that are coming.

You're on the Titanic after it hit the iceberg.

Any attempt to pretend otherwise is delusion and denial.
