Since people are catching on to HR booking vendor rooms and using that to pinpoint when a layoff event will happen, do you not think HR could ask anyone in leadership to book a room under their name and still use it for layoff? For that matter, they could still book the room under the guise of a "Halloween event, " and lay you off in that room.
Point is, no one knows when layoffs are going to happen, they want it that way. Knowing a specific date isn't doing anyone any good either, it won't change the fact that people are getting let go. Anxiety is high, which is bad. However, be as in control of your own destiny as you can be by being ready for it, and knowing what some other options for employment for yourself might look like.
Do not take it personally if it happens to you! Walmart is not a good place to work, it hasn't been for a long time; it's highly dysfunctional. Other employers are not like Walmart, there are still great companies to work for, where if you do good work, and get good reviews, there is job security and none of the daily anxiety. For Walmart to make anxiety and total job insecurity the new norm is complete BS.
